Looking at going to London next May and will do all the tourist stops in town and a trip to Bath and Stonehenge. Was hoping for a couple Recs for food or pubs knowing it's a huge city? Will be staying at the Hyatt Regency Blackfriars that is right by the Blackfriars station. Thanks!

Dishoom for sure.

Grab drinks at The Marylebone if in the area.

Can't go wrong in Borough Market and sample some stuff.

Bagels / Deli / Wine / Beer at Panzers and walk over to Primrose Hill for a picnic with a view of the city.

Dinner at L'entrecot on Throgmorton (usually no line compared to Marlybone) and then after dinner drinks at the Ned with some live music.

ACME Fire Cult is outstanding but in a more griddy area if you feel adventurous.

Right next to ACME is Dusty Knuckle, great breakfast and bakery.

The Blackfriars pub in your area is really great…very solid steak & ale pie and also popular with the locals. Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese around the corner is also a can't miss.

Attended a dinner hosted at Wagtail which is a rooftop place not too far from you near Monument stop on the District line. Great views and food was excellent.

We loved Dishoom and Veeraswamy -- both were delish! Reservations definitely recommended.

We also enjoyed Prosecco House mainly for wine and cheeses.
Borough Market was nice and great fish and chips. We also did a food tour that took us through here and it was super fun and nice to try different foods and drinks.

Gillray's Steakhouse is inside the London Marriott Hotel County Hall and we thought it was really good. This is next to the London Eye.

We had dinner one night at Coppa Club in one of their igloo's overlooking the Thames and while the views were excellent the food was just okay.

If you have time and want to venture out to the Bermondsey area, it has a ton of great breweries and food markets. Flour and Grape was our favorite restaurant and the Maltby Street Market was soo good.

Blacklock, for steak/chops and good drinks. City location is about a 25 minute walk or a short ride to Monument Station on the circle line

We found a bunch of great places on our last few visits that friends have gone to and also had good experiences. For a country with such a reputation for bad food, they do a good job of bringing in other country's foods. So look there.

Porchesters Pub (on Bishops Bridge Rd - North of Diana Memorial Playground) for sunday roast. Everything we ordered was really well prepared and delicious.

The Good Earth (on Brompton, just southwest of Harrods) for Roast Duck. This is a chinese restaurant and there may be better roast duck but we've always had crispy skin, moist duck and lots of good options to add around for a meal that pleases everybody.

Gordons Wine Bar (on Villiers near the Embankment station). This is underground in an old tube tunnel. Use the entrance on the side that faces the little park by the river and expect a wait. Great wine and meat/cheese boards.

Ask Italian (on Park, just east of the Marble Arch station). This wouldn't normally have been on my radar but its got great food at a really decent price. If you have kids, their kids menu gets three courses for a really low price. Good wine selection and a fun atmosphere.

Chets (on Shepherds Bush Green). This is a Thai-Americana restaurant and we didn't know what to expect but it was fantastic. I'd only steer here if the eaters are more adventurous. Really cool dining room with great food.

Veeraswamy (on Regents Street just west of Picadilly Circus). This is like the upscale version of Dishooms. High end Indian restaurant that is absolutely worth it. Beautiful setting on Regents street and amazing food.

Dishooms (several locations). Really great food and fun vibe.

The Grenadier Pub (off of Wilton Place in the embassy region just off of Knightsbridge (SE corner of Hyde Park). I think there's some beatles connection here but we just dug the pub. Its at the end of a little street and feels really hidden away. Just drank here but the history and nature of this place worked for us.

I found that most of the pubs around the big sites were fine for grabbing drinks, but we preferred going further away for the better food. No particular places to recommend, just general guidance.

Burrough Market is great and you should plan to eat there for one lunch. The Bomba Paella has a giant paella pan going throughout the day and they make a great salt and pepper calamari. But there's burgers, sausages, cheeses, breads, desserts, whatever. Its great. We've always skipped the actual restaurants around the market and just hit the stalls.

This! You have to go to Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, one of the oldest pubs in London.

Only one place that has outstanding Fish & Chips in London. That place is Stones Fish & Chips. It's BYOB so you can take in your own booze.

Mr. Fogg's City Tavern & The Audley are 2 more Pubs in London to check out

Veeraswamy is a good reco, but I'd say if you are in for paying GBP 30 for chicken tikka, walk the extra 5 minutes into Mayfair and go to Gymkhana. I also think Benares is a better choice for that price range. If you are looking for a cheap meal that feels more like a late meal after drinks, I really enjoy Needo around Whitechapel… just a fun atmosphere to have some Indian food.

In terms of pubs near(ish) to Blackfriars, I personally really like Cittie of York in Holborn. The F1 Arcade is close to there too and that place is pretty fun!

D-Grande Tex-mex in Chiswick. Short tube ride from central London. Aggie owned too!

There's also Texas Joes Smoked meats. It's about a block from the Shard. The owner is from Texas as well. He can't have a wood fired smoker, so he has an electric smoker that was made in Texas and shipped over.

Saying Nicholsons's Pub would be pretty close to declaring your favorite bar in the US, Coor's Bar or Sysco's Cafe.
