Going to Boston mid July for work but stayin Fri and Sat night. Looking at going up to Maine (Portland/Kennebunkporr) area....

Worth it?
Things to do/see?
Places to stay?

Coastal Maine is very pretty. If it was fall, I would say go to White Mountain NP in New Hampshire.

Also consider the opposite direction and go to Rhode Island. Providence and Newport
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Was also going to suggest New Hampshire/White Mountains. It's such an easy drive from Boston. I'm admittedly biased, currently spending my second summer in a row here. We've had some really spectacular weather lately. I feel like this is the most underrated destination in the US.

Kennebunkport and the area are awesome. I forget the distance but we spent a few days up at Lake Winnapausaukee and Wolfeboro NH. Cool area and town and beautiful lake.

OP, Anything in particular you're looking to do while you're up here? Beer/food, hiking, fishing, boating, etc?

There are little pockets of awesomeness all over New England depending on what you're looking for. If you have any strong preferences, that could help dial in the recommendations.

Pemaquid Point Light and Popham Beach SP are very nice stops if you make it north of Portland & Brunswick area.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire is a really cool town and only an hour away. Good stop for lunch.

York Maine is cool as well. Fox's Lobster House is a great place for a meal.
