will have time for three lunches and three dinners there...or possibly lunches on day trips outside the city, but want dinners in town so we can walk from our apartment.

What do you recommend? All price points from local hole in the wall to Michelin stars are appreciated.

Will have lunch one day in Florence as well.

For lunch, sit outside, away from the crowds of people.

Was in San G in March. Ate at Ricca Pizza (2 locations: Via San Giovanni, 92 Via San Matteo, 5). Take away, with very limited seating at the San Giovanni location and no seating at the other. Pizza was great. Our favorite restaurant there is La Vecchie Muva, also has gluten free options. Sit outside, view is breathtaking. Via Piandornella 15.

If able, we found a kitchen linen shop on Via San Giovanni a few doors down from Giaquinto (another kitchen linen shop) when walking toward the well, don't remember if it's on the right or left. A man runs it. If you are able to get his web address, please post here. Would like to order more from him.

Favorite restaurants in Florence: Lo Scudo by the duomo and Cento Poveri closer to Santa Maria Novella. If you eat at Cento Poveri, highly recommend you go one block over to see the Santa Maria Novella Pharmacy - beautiful historic building. The frescoes are gorgeous and the building is well preserved.

In Florence, the best gelato is at Edoardo at the duomo. We took a pizza/gelato class while in Florence and that was one of 4 gelaterias they recommended for quality gelato. It's fabulous.

Also, if interested in gold jewelry, go to Gold Corner on the duomo side of the river. Mostly 18 karat, prices much lower than at Ponte Vecchio. Best to pay in cash unless you don't mind getting money back at the airport.

Our favorite place for ceramic dishes, plates, etc in Florence is Ricceri Ceramica - via dei Conti, 14r. We've had items shipped twice and nothing comes in broken. He can make any item in any pattern, just tell him want you want.

If you do day trips, recommend Lucca. Can walk the walls and look down on the city. Stop by Caniparoli Cioccolateria for the best chocolate.

Anywhere you eat will be better than any place in the states. We would usually just ask locals or tour guides to point us in the right direction.

Hopefully. This is the right shop. He said he was the only man running a store like this.
