All,

I'm going to Red Rocks for the first time this summer to see Joe Bonamassa in concert. Should be a fantastic show. Taking my dad to see his favorite artist.

This will be our first time going to Red Rocks. Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks in advance!

Awesome!
We love Red Rocks and have been multiple times, we're actually headed back there in a few weeks for a show.

Will you be driving there? If you have a car, get there early for good parking and tailgating.
We've done the shuttle from Denver and it was fine. We've also done Uber/Lyft and they have a separate area where it's really easy to get in and out of.

Beverage lines will be long but that's pretty normal for a concert of that size usually.
It has rained the last 2 times we've been and we brought the throw-away ponchos.

Other than that, enjoy the view and music!

Awesome venue! Y'all will have a blast.
I stayed in Golden and the hotel had a shuttle but I didn't sign up in time. You may want to check what options your hotel offers, if any.

As already stated, if driving arrive earlier than you think. I have only been once, and we ran into a lot of people "panic parking" on the side of the road and walking. If you do this, park in the exit direction so you can manage the traffic better on way out.

Also, the near by town of Morrison has some cool restaurants and bars to check out before the event.

IF DRIVING...Arrive early and park on the side of the road near the top lot. Not IN the lot, but on the road with your car pointed towards the exit. Drive into the lot and use it to get your car turned around. They may be requiring you to do this, depending on your arrival time. I don't know the official name for it (maybe lot A?) but if you're in your seats facing the stage it's on the left-hand side. When you leave, take the exit on the left-hand side of the stage and go as fast as you can to get to your car. It will be a surprisingly easy and fast exit. Getting parked will unfortunately take a long time, even if you're really early.

A thread was here that I was going to start.

Will be there for some concerts 7/5/24 - 7/7/24 (Avett Brothers).

Thanks for the tips so far....and thanks for the tips to come.

I need some help because I don't get out much.

One thing I need to nail down now is the place to stay. Since I don't get to the mountains much, I was going to combine this concert run with a stay in the mountains. And even though it is an hour+ to Red Rocks, I thought maybe a stay in Breckenridge would be cool (never been there) ....hang there and the head toward the shows in the afternoon.

I don't mind the hour + drive, but now I am starting to think that is too much and too far away. Was considering Colorado Springs and Boulder before. Looked at Golden and some other places.....I wanted nice hotel.

My head is obviously spinning.

Can anybody throw some glue on my scenario......or at least tell me if Breckenridge is stupid (or maybe how stupid)?

Thanks for any info.

Breckenridge is stupid unless you like driving an hour at night, in the mountains, after a concert.

How nice of a hotel are you looking for? Evergreen is an option too for mountain feel but not super far from RR. Not sure of the hotels there though. There are some newly built chains to the south on C470. Easy to Red Rocks from there. Oh, if you drive to RR, DON'T SPEED IN MORRISON! They have been doing photo and cop tickets like crazy the last month.

I don't mind driving.....but I was trying to make too much of the trip.

Thanks for waking me up. I started to think there was something stupid in the room and there was a mirror.

Since you are helping me, Is Colorado Springs just as stupid?

I don't mind going $300 - $500 a night for a hotel....just don't want to get into something much more expensive. I need to make it a nice trip......we don't get out much.

Thanks for the info.......I will look around some more.......at Evergreen and other areas near Morrison. Thanks for the speeding tip.

How about staying close that night and somewhere else the rest of the trip? We stayed at The Origin and it was EXTREMELY close. Could have walked to Red Rocks from there if we got desperate (don't walk though, that wouldn't be fun at night).

Yes, Colorado Springs is just as foolish. I'd make that drive early the next day.

Thanks for the info Pilot. I think I am going to stay close to Red Rocks, but I might look at Boulder. (I might need to stay at little less chainy place.) You got a stupidity quotient on that?

They did have a nice room....a tad steep because of my late action.......I didn't see a pool....but it looks like a pretty good place.

Thanks.

Boulder is doable. It's probably a 40-minute drive depending on where you stay there. Somewhere near Pearl St is perhaps the most desirable there.

Stay at the The Eddy Taproom & Hotel in Golden and use the shuttle. Shuttle is the best $ you will spend.

This hotel did look good and I had it recommended by a few other people.

Alas it was not available for my trip coming up.
