Looking for recommendations on where to take family of 4 (wife, 6 yr old daughter & 3 year old son) for this upcoming spring break. Anyone have anywhere that they've been that they'd recommend for a young active family?

FWIW we currently reside in DFW and do an annual trip to Gulf Shores every summer.

New Mexico skiing? Define active, maybe.

Driving, flying, domestic, international?

Thinking back to when my kids were that age we did the obligatory spring break trip to WDW one year but also did Costa Rica, Beaches in TCI and Atlantis in other years; all of these give you plenty of reasons to get out of the room and get some sun and exercise.

Throwing a wild hair out there but we did Big Bend two spring breaks in a row. Camp the first night at Monahan Sand Dunes state park and then camp two nights at Stillwell store and RV Park right outside Big Bend. It's the busies time for Big Bend *BUT* it's not that bad because it's still the most remote part of the country and even at its busiest it's still not that bad. Here's a few pics from years past.

I love big bend. I do a guys trip every year in early November where we camp at a group site in the basin. I definitely will be taking my kids there one day. Personal goal would be hit as many national parks before kids grow up and move on out!

You could do Florida theme parks

If you aren't interested in doing a big Disney trip, the big Lego land Florida is about 45 minutes to an hour from Disney. Its a big outdoor amusement park (a little smaller than Six Flags probably) totally themed with Lego rides and exhibits. There is also the new Peppa Pig theme park that opened not too long ago. It is also owned/run by Lego.

We first took our kids to this Legoland about 13 years ago right when it first opened. But, recently did an extended family trip with the much younger nieces and nephews in the family. The little kids enjoyed themselves and preferred it to the Magic Kingdom.park at Disney. It is really geared towards young kids. We did 2 days Lego land and Peppa Pig Land and stayed in the Lego hotel. Then did 2 days at Magic Kingdom. This was a gift trip from the grandparents.

We've also taken our kids to Legoland California and that can be combined with nearby San Diego (zoo, Sea World, beach) to make a fun trip.

More southern Florida Beach towns like Naples, Marco Island, Miami, and the Florida Keys would be an option. Anywhere much north of these areas will still be too chilly for beach activities at Spring Break.

If all of you have passports, all inclusive resorts in Mexico and Caribbean are usually easy trips with little kids.
