Wife and I boarded the plane for Key West this morning at DFW and the passengers asked us why we are going to key west because we "don't look the type." I explained it's a work retreat to plan 2024. They all laughed and said good luck. We were like what the heck?? They explained it's Fantasy Fest week in Key West….

Anyone know what we are getting into?? This site makes it sound wild. The other passengers said it's worse than Mardi Gras

If real, I'm guessing this goes one of 2 ways after the drive to the hotel ;

1) They lock themselves in the room for the remainder of the trip while they call the airport daily for early flights.

2) Inform whoever expects to meet them in Key West they "missed their flight" and have the best week of their lives that is never spoken about in public.

My wife and I honeymooned in Key West and have gone back to celebrate anniversaries. It's not our crowd, but if you have spent time in or know anything about Key West it's Hemingway, Duval Street, Fort Jefferson, and have heard stories about Fantasy Fest.

Good morning from Key West! FYI my wife is 15 weeks pregnant so our craziness this week is definitely on hold - but my wife is curious and wants to see the sights and sounds.

The Uber ride from airport to resort showed us a taste of what to expect. We attended happy hour with the executive committee members per schedule yesterday at 5pm. We cut the happy hour short to go watch the zombie bike parade.

For more than an hour, we watched zombies of all kinds. I don't have data in this year but looks like there was about 11,000 participants last year and I'd believe it. There were men and women in thongs, topless women with pasties covering nips, and more craziness. The parade wasn't totally done when we got an Uber and headed for a sports bar - since the rangers were playing, ya know.

Somehow I picked the sports bar. There was concern about crowds and Uber delays to navigate the traffic. Somehow I landed on Pickles Sandbar Grill, although the bar itself is confused about its name as we saw it listed differently in several places. Well the sports bar was close enough and far enough from the craziness but that was unintentional. There were people in full body paint with minimal genital coverings eating and drinking in the bar. All waitresses were dressed up consistent with trashy versions of twin peaks with a side of zombie. I always get pissed if a bar can't make a good ranch water and they definitely suffered in that category but the atmosphere was awesome. Food was mediocre. As the night wore on, the craziness intensified. At one point, someone in zombie costume was walking the streets with a chainsaw. I think the chain was removed but not sure. Pregnant wife wanted to call it a night so we left before the rangers won at 10pm local time. The Uber ride out was wild for a few blocks until we got away from the craziness.

More to come. I've read there is expected to be 75,000 people participating in fantasy fest this year. Our group is scheduled for a train ride around town Tuesday night so we should see plenty before boarding the sunset cruise. The train ride back to resort is at 10pm so it should be really interesting.

On a flight back to DFW now. Nothing too exciting to report for me wife and I. We did discover a swinger couple in our group. They disappeared during the Ranger game Monday night and re-appeared with body paint and some other questionable body decor. They walked up our to rangers watch party on the beach like we wouldn't notice their obvious body paint and under garments under cheap t-shirts.

We did a sunset cruise before dinner last night. We rode on a Conch Tour Train to and from dinner and the boat ride. We had the driver go down Duvall street both ways so we could see what was going on.

There were lots of body paint artists and body painted people. There were dudes with inflatable, 2 ft long male parts taped to their bodies. Pineapple was a common theme (wonder why lol) in addition to tutu's. The train driver told us we would see some naked people but nothing too crazy when going up and down the street. He warned us to not go inside any bars along Duvall street after dark because we would likely see more than we wanted. Apparently there were some straight up orgy parties in certain bars. The crowd seemed to be 20-30 year olds in rainbow colors or empty nest aged couples.

Edit: even that pic had someone topless. It was hard to see a group of people that didn't have someone topless, body painted, or other barely there lingerie.

Sounds like the OP had a an extremely PG experience.

Apache's pic must have been from some sort of promotional website with semi-professional models. Because the people in the OP's pics looked more like what I would expect.

Some of those attendees of The Fest needed to roll those hangers up. Still wanted to see em though.

More to the story. The body painted lady took some other women down to the water and show her full body paint and explain their, uh, practices. I wasn't there to hear what was said obviously but another member of the group said his wife confirmed that couple are swingers
