My wife and I would like to go to Cabo for our anniversary. Any recommendations on where to stay and things to do while there would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Depending on budget, look at Solaz, Waldorf Pedregal, and Esperanza. All are amazing.

Solaz is a Marriott property so you can use points.

A lot will depend on overall budget, time of year and what type of activities you both are interested in. Also if you are wanting to do all-inclusive or not. For high range AI a lot of my clients love Le Blanc Cabo. If you want help exploring great options my contact info is in my signature

We usually go once, maybe twice/year…Our favorite, but also most expensive is Esperanza and it also is NOT all-inclusive. Anniversary type trip only for us.

Le Blanc is good, but I also highly recommend Pueblo Bonita properties, specifically Pacifica property for adults only. Bonus there if either of you are golfers to play Quivira. Enjoy!

Recently booked my first trip to Cabo. We are staying at Marquis Los Cabos. All inclusive adult only property.

Cabo in January … worth it?

The importer/exporter convention is there that time of year so you've got that going for you…

In all seriousness I'm sure it's fine as Cabo isn't a place you're going to actually do any ocean activities anyway. That said I haven't been in January so can't offer real world advice.

January is perfect. I believe that's actually high tourist season for them. Take a boat to see the whales!

I went in February last year and it was great. Pool was a little cold, but they ran the heater and it was fine. Whales were around in big numbers. Sitting in the infinity pool, sipping drinks watching the whales is not a bad way to pass the day.

We like to go in January and February as a nice post holiday trip, just me and the wife. Best spot we stayed was probably Nobu but not All inclusive and was fairly pricey relatively. Not a regular spot for us but it was my 40th. Been to Marquis that an above poster mentioned and liked it. Felt like it was a very good value and a little smaller than some of the others so a little more intimate. Will probably give Le Blanc a try next year.

I found the food at Le Blanc to be mediocre when I was there last October. The beer selection was super disappointing (Corona or Michelob Ultra).

Either stay somewhere in pedegral or Palmilla. Stay in Cabo San Jose, not San Lucas. I've also heard La Paz is nice.

Waldorf is your spot.....close to town, their restaurant El Farallon has best setting in Cabo, service is awesome and the giant wave that crashes every 20 minutes is mesmerizing.

Other one I would consider is Chileno Bay

how was the food/drinks at marquis? Seems they only have like 3 restaurants? Curious if that was a problem?

We went to Cabo last November for the first time and did all-inclusive at Sandos. It is on top of the hill a short walk from the marina.

We kept finding ourselves wanting to go out to actually experience Cabo, not eat at the resort. There are a number of great restaurants and bars to experience. If we go back, we will not be doing all-inclusive. There are far too many places to go to if you enjoy going out and do not want to eat at a resort.

We're headed to Cabo next week, I've got my 7 & 10 year old daughters coming along. I don't travel internationally much, and this will the first trip over the border for the kids.

Where is the best place to exchange currency? I'm in Katy. The last time I did a currency exchange was in South Africa, and I just did it at the airport.

I remember it being ok. 6.5/10. I think they have more restaurants than that but maybe not, I think I was there in 2016 so it could have changed quite a bit.

Call your bank. They will exchange for you, but it might take a couple days.

Can't be any better. We are going next year at this time as well and already started checking Viator reviews in order to purchase tickets in the next couple of days. This time we want to try a new hotel, expectations are very high. Hopefully that will be a great vacation again.

Trying not to hijack the thread...buuuuut
Planning for next year...big anniversary and family trip...we love to fish. Going in November just before Thanksgiving. Me, wife and 14 yo. NOT doing all inclusive and obviously not worried about bar scene. Want a place with kitchen so we can cook. Plan is to go for 7 nights. Going to fish 3 times and planning to do so every other day. Off days will be at beach or poolside.
Recos on places to stay?

We stayed at this place a couple of years ago and it was really nice. I contacted the owner outside of VRBO and was able to save a lot of money not having to pay the VRBO fees.

Not sure if you have already booked fishing but we had a great trip with Pisces Fishing.

Jumping in this thread to ask what, if any, airport transfer services you all have used or would recommend in Cabo? We are headed there in February, so trying to start looking at our transportation to/from the airport.

We have used CanaDian Transfer service in Cancun several times with very good success. Yes CanaDien like from Canada. Logo is even the Canadian flag but their operation is almost solely in Mexico. Decent rates, clean vehicles, safe drivers, legit business. Had my resort not had free service for us I would have used them in Cabo too. They do operate there.

I think our was called Cabo Airport Shuttle. We booked online. It was $155 round trip for a suburban. He had a cooler with complimentary beer. Super easy. You meet them outside the airport at umbrella 5. They wear green polos and black pants.

You don't need to call or anything, they know your flights and handle everything.

Thread disrail but still relevant.

The transport scumbags inside the airport giving the hard sell that you can't get out of the airport zone without a vehicle reserved inside are the worst.

If you have transportation arranged and your service tells you where to go outside, do not stop to talk to anyone after you clear customs. Those people will use intimidation to get you in their cars.

This is great advice. They also try to sell whale watching, 4x4 tour, dinner cruise, etc. Just walk straight past, do not engage.

Highly recommend Le Blanc. Strongly recommend not being here during a hurricane.

We arrive at LeBlanc Monday morning. Hurricane took more of a head on path to Cabo but was barely a hurricane. Fingers crossed they pick up the palm fronds before we arrive.

Do post-hurricane make for better fishing?

My wife's been showing me videos all morning. A bunch of the resorts got torn up pretty good. Most have stopped alcohol service and some have food service. A lot of them running on backup generators. Good luck.
