Our Rome/Cruise/Athens trip is coming up next month (we've gotten some awesome suggestions from this board, thank you!)

I have a thread open for Rome dining, looking for the same in Athens.

What are a couple of great Greek places? We will be staying in the Athina neighborhood, right adjacent to the Acropolis.

In Athens the street food and inexpensive restaurants were our favorites. Meat the Greek and Mamacitas are the two I remember enjoying the most. The Low Profile Whisky Bar was very much my kind of place if you enjoy a drink.


ETA: The only fine dining we did in Athens was on the rooftop of Hotel Grande Bretagne. We had a reservation at sunset and the view is stunning. The food and service was forgettable.

If you want some really good yet inexpensive seafood, go to Atlantikos. Its not fancy or anything but the food is great. Highly recommend.

My favorite part of dining in Athens were the sidewalk cafes near Monastiraki square. For breakfast, the pastries at Veneti Great Baggeion were very good.

What cruise are you doing?

Starting in Rome, ending in Athens. Stops on Amalfi Coast, Sicily, Ephasus (Turkey), Mykonos and Santorini.

Doing three days in Rome and two in Athens on the bookends.

Santorini is awesome aside from the lines at the cable cars. If your cruise drops you off there, there is a boat that will take you to Oia and back to Fira via bus for 30 euros per person. Apsithia in Oia has one of the best views of any restaurant I've visited if you get the opportunity. Not my Instagram but a good representation of what to expect.
