I have been to Mexico about 6 times and have stayed at a couple Riu's and then just stayed at a Heaven Riviera Maya. Additionally, stayed at Hotel Xcaret once as well. Xcaret was my favorite by far due to the food. Even though it was all inclusive the food was great. Does anyone have any recommendations on where they have been in Mexico?

It is kind of a big country. Any part in particular you want to go? And a budget might help too.

Most likely the Cancun/Riveria Maya area. Or would be open to Cabo. Through southwest vacations looking for around $2000 per person for 4 nights

Never understood why people stay at all inclusives when traveling internationally. Mexico has SO much more to offer than faux culture at an all inclusive.

Adults only or kids?

Excellence Playa Mujeres (won't find on Southwest Vacations).

Many of the Secrets (not all).
Valentin - not shiny and new, but great service and has authentic Mexican vibe.
Riu Latino is new, adults only, with a water park. Nice beach.

For Cabo I like Hard Rock, toured Breathless and would love to stay there. More budget friendly would be Sandos. Marquis adults only and very laid back/quiet.

It must be a Southern/Midwest thing. Why fly to a foreign country and not experience the culture. Might as well go to a splash park in IA with a fake beach and a buffet.

Not everyone wants culture

Sometimes I wanna sit on a nice beach and see how many beers I can drink before I pass out.

Yep, cartels. Kidnappings. Beheadings.

I go to mexico to sit my ass on a beach while a mexican brings me drinks, then eat and booze what I want when I want while kids are occupied with beach/pool/water slides/kids club/activities.
Also sometimes its getting away from Denver winter.

Oh, yeh, and to save money.
Gaylord here in town costs the same as this place;

If I want mexican culture I can go to Sheridan.

The wife and I went to Secrets Maroma Beach a few months ago and it was fantastic.

If I wanted culture, I would go to Italy. If I want to sit on a beach and do nothing, flying into Cancun is a great value.

Just be prepared that the beach water will look nothing like that. Not knocking the resort at all, but the water will be more murky/brownish than blue. We had a little sargassum but can be bad depending on the time of the year. This is very close to that resort.

oh yeh, I know, that isn't even a real picture, it's a rendering since it's new.

We've been to that area a few times.

Still nicer sand and water than the beach in Colorado

Agreed! I just hate when resorts do that because some people have no clue and show up and are caught completely off guard!

Agree, there are a lot of places I go for culture but Cancun ain't one of them.

We are not all-inclusive people so are usual haunts are the Kempinski (used to be the Ritz), the JW Marriott and the Waldorf.
