anyone know anything about this place? it appears it is supposed to open in December? Rates for next summer seem pretty reasonable. Looks nice from the renderings I've seen.

What do you expect people to know about a resort that's not open other than it's owned by Secrets?
Username checks out.

maybe location and beach? size? any exectations about who its geared to? several travel agents here I'm sure who know something the general public may not?

Thanks for your reply and comment.

I haven't heard too much, but I did hear that it was very much designed to be similar to Secrets Maroma Beach.

I'm glad there is going to be another Secrets option north of Cancun, that area seems to not see as much sargassum.

Can't wait to hear more about it once it opens. Hopefully they'll keep the Dec. 1 opening date...always seems like those dates get pushed back when opening a new resort.

Also, just read that maybe only half of the resort is opening and other half not until May 2024. Spa and Fitness would not be open until May 2024 as well.

I can't wait to see it. I agree with Breeze, will be so nice to have another Secrets on the north side.

I will tell you this resort chain NEVER opens on time. Ever. BUT if you book it and you get booted, they typically move you somewhere else (another Secrets or Dreams) and you usually get a complimentary stay for the same # of nights you had. So you could possibly get 2 vacations in one. But sometimes the resorts they move you to are not super comparable. Sometimes you have a choice, sometimes you don't as its based on availability. (of course this could change at any time).

I'm sad the Secrets Tulum got pushed - that one is going to be very cool. It's not on the beach, the property looks super lush and they have a shuttle to the beach where they have a beach club (food and drinks).

What are the top 3 resorts north of Cancun in your opinion?

Excellence Playa Mujeres
Atelier
Dreams Playa Mujeres for families. Ironically the Secrets next door seems to be going downhill.

Other decent options:
Planet Hollywood - I've stayed here and enjoyed it, but very mixed reviews.
Majestic Costa Mujeres - I've never had anyone stay here nor have I, but I've heard it is a decent more budget friendly option.

I'm probably forgetting something. Riu Costa Mujeres/Riu Dunamar are there as well but definitely more budget friendly accommodations.

you wouldn't put Beloved in your top 3? It seems like it is always #1 on tripadvisor?

what did the Tulum resort get pushed to? Isn't it supposed to open sometime this fall?

I almost stuck it next to Excellence since they are the same company. I didn't mention it because it's a super quiet resort for the right client. Some would get very bored there. Others it's exactly what they need.

I haven't looked lately but yes I think October. Originally it was this summer I think. I'm going to Mexico last week in Sept.

PS many times I can get some of these resorts cheaper than direct if anyone ever wants to reach out for a quote. Booked a client for $1800 today when direct pricing is $2300 at Dreams Natura.

I enjoyed Atelier as did other people we know that have been. Don't let one person's negative comment keep you from this place.

I had a group of 11 rooms and the complaints were very minor. Everyone loved it. (And it was a Texager group).

Everyone has difference experiences.

Bumping this. Wife and I are taking a trip in mid-April and trying to decide between:

- Secrets Tulum
- Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya
- Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres

Open to other suggestions but want to stay in the Hyatt / UVC ecosystem.

We've stayed at Secrets Moxche twice this year so looking to switch it up.

What was your opinion of Secrets Moxche?
Is the seaweed still an issue North of Playa?

Secrets Tulum - hearing that it is a beautiful resort and a different look than other Secrets properties. It is not beach front, they have a beach club that they provide shuttle to/from.

Secrets Akumal - gorgeous resort and similar to Secrets Maroma. Not as far as Tulum, but still about 1.5-2 hours from airport. Only complaint I've had from clients is the tours/excursions that come right in front of the resort to snorkel to see the sea turtles. So, there will be boats coming in and out all day with people to snorkel right in front of resort. Not very peaceful.

Secrets Playa Blanca - as mentioned I think this resort was slated to open this month and has now been pushed to Feb 1 for a partial opening. Spa, fitness center and theater won't open until June. And more than likely those dates will be pushed out even further. Really looking forward to this one though!

All the travel agents are pretty much hating Secrets Tulum. Basically all the pools have sand, you have to walk through sand, the showers to wash your feet - you walk through sand after. I wouldn't go here for a good bit - still working out way too many kinks.

I loved when I toured Akumal in Sept.

My wife just finished shooting the Bachelor at the Secrets Tulum and said the same thing about the sand everywhere. It's a gorgeous hotel but yeah sounds like it was super annoying.

So your wife is a contestant?

So does she work for the franchise?

She does freelance videography and photography. She does the Bachelor, Golden Bachelor and alot of German reality Tv shows. Those are supposedly WILD by our standards. WILD.
