Sorry for making a second thread here, just having questions pop into my head!
I've tried looking this up but can't find any decent data points;

I have a 1-way rental from SMF to STS starting tomorrow. I'm president's club at Avis, but have never done a 1-way rental with them.

This trip is a special occasion, so I was hoping for an upgrade. Does anyone know if for 1-way rentals they will usually do upgrades, or since it is not coming back to that location will they usually not?

Either way, I'll find out tomorrow and post back - just was wondering what to expect!

My experience is one-way upgrades is highly dependent on the size / location of the drop-off and what cars they need or usually carry. So a convertible going tom Sacramento to Sonoma may be viable but a 4x4 SUV would be a less likely upgrade.

Traveling extensively for 20 years I would say that if you want something for a special occasion, do not rely on an upgrade and just book what you desire.
