What's the pulse on Sixt Rental Cars?
Anyone ever use them?
I'm flying to O'Hare and driving to Michigan for a long weekend mid-October.
They are couple hundred less than Enterprise at first glance.

used them several times in south america and never had any issues. no experience with them in the US but i wouldn't hesitate to give them a look.

Feel like their fleet is typically higher end cars. Would rent them everytime if we didn't have a corporate agreement with hertz

Other threads on average warn against using them as well.

Rented a handful of times from them, no issues.

I used them for the first time this summer in Colorado & had no issues.
Always take pics of the car before you drive it & return it when you say you're going to & you'll be fine.

Have used them several times in Houston, Denver and Orlando without issue. They are a European outfit if I recall and the vibe I get is that the US locations are franchised - though I never looked into it. But... that may be the reason you see varying levels of service and associated reviews.

Never had an issue, as others have mentioned take pics which you should be doing anyways. I use a credit card with the built in protections so I never buy coverage, but recall it is more expensive than Hertz, Avis, etc.

Cars are on average much better than the others. I find their prices for BMWs to be a good sweet spot in price v class of car.

Would not hesitate to give them a try for your trip.

They are the only company I trust with rentals in Europe and have always had great experiences

Using them right now in MX and we haven't had any issues. They've been great. Their price for the week was lower than enterprise etc prices for 2-3 days. Hella steal.

I used Sixt in Italy this summer. I felt like they were the budget airline of car rentals - low list price, but after all of the fees and gotchas, it wasn't much cheaper.

They charged extra for picking up from a "premium location" (aka the main train station), squeezed in an extra litre of gas at a crazy price (even though it read full on the return), and didn't have the car model that specifically led me to use Sixt in the first place (and was confirmed ahead of time).

When I made it to Spain, I just used Hertz, probably paid slightly more, but it was hassle free with good service. There is just something about the nickel and diming that gets under my skin.

Used them in Europe with no issues.

Rented a Beamer from them out of Newark this past Spring. All went well...

I use them every chance I get. Great clean cars, no lines. You can normally get a bmw or mercedes at dfw for 30 bucks total more than budget gives you an altima.

I am picking up a lux car from sixt at dfw tomorrow for 3 days and it was about 40 bucks total more than a turd malibu. It will be either a cadillac or mercedes 300 because that is almost the entire dfw fleet

I have used them in Houston (IAH), with no issues.

Used them in Turks and was easy breezy.

This is all good to know. I'll keep an eye out on them next go around.

Just finished my dfw rental with sixt and turned in the car 20 minutes ago.

Longest line I have ever had with sixt to get the car but still under 10 minutes.

Didn't have the bmw 3 series sedan so they gave me a bmw x3 instead. Car was clean and had 2k miles.

No hassles exiting, no problems with car.

Turn in took about 1 minute, receipt was emailed to me 5 minutes later.

They are far and away the best rental company in my opinion. Nothing else is even close

I think most rental companies have options to bypass lines. Avis is our go-to and we don't have to go to the counter, just go straight to your car. I don't think it requires anything (status) but an account with them.

Have a date with them in Croatia next week. I'll let you know!

I wanted to follow up on this. I rented thru SIXT on my recent trip to South Florida. Car was a BMW 4 class and was $67 all in (including taxes and fees). Easy process. I did all of the booking on their app and confirmed it all when I landed. I'm a big fan and will use them from now on. The gate agent said they are a German company focused on customer service! Ha.

The agent said they are the largest rental car company in Europe. Been around since the 80s. And said they have been active in the states for 4-5 years.

Used them in Munich a few years ago. No problems at all.

I would take lots of pictures and videos of the cars and mark/mention all issues of the car.

I had no problems renting from them in the US several times. I was a little worried but the deal was too hard to pass up.
