We're on a cruise from Tokyo and typhoon Lan is causing lots of changes to our port itinerary. Stops in Shimizu for Mt. Fuji and Osaka/Kyoto have already been cancelled completely as our ship tries to sail across the typhoon's track. Our makeup port will be Kumamoto in two days. I don't know much about the area, so I'm hoping for some recommendations on things worth seeing that are easy to get to. Unfortunately, we're docking in Yatsushiro further south from Kumamoto. I think that will make a day trip to Nagasaki or ***uoka impossible.
