Taking the family (wife and two boys 8&5) up there in about 10 days and looking for recommendations....

1. Day trip ideas (no more than an hour drive there)
2. Fishing guides. Do they do lake fishing there or only in the river?
3. Good eating spots.
4. Any other must do or see

Jackson is about 45 minutes away. It has AMAZING food options. I can give you several recommendations if you'd like them. You can probs still raft the Snake, too.

You absolutely can fish in Lake Alpine. You just need a fishing license and a conservation stamp for anyone over 14 IIRC. The drive between Alpine and Jackson follows the Snake and is really pretty. If you go past Jackson towards Victor on Teton Pass Hwy 22, you may see some grizzles on the side of the road as you approach the pass.

In Alpine for food you have Yankee Doodle's, Delish Donuts, and the Taco Bus. Driftwood Pizza is ok but not great. Melvin Brewing if you're a drinker can be fun. It's right on the point on Lake Alpine.

There's Alpine Hot Springs if the water level of the river has dropped enough for it to appear or there's Astoria Mineral Hot Springs between Alpine and Jackson.

I asked a Jackson local, and here's her response:

" lol. Alpines not known for their food but there's a few restaurants- Flaming saddle? I think is supposed to be good. And Drifteood pizza, tavern on the Greys.

Rafting the snake river canyon is really fun. The water is pretty low right now though so it would be class 2+. Alot of folks go swimming and boating on the Palisades reservoir. They could drive up Greys river canyon which is really pretty and has some hiking."

What are your food recommendations? We are headed for an anniversary trip and kids staying at home so looking for nicer dining experiences for 2 adults.
