Seems to be a good time of year. Anything I should be considering or looking at?

Cape Town is awesome.

Take the cable cars to the top of Table Mountain and watch the sunset.

I have been there twice. It is an absolutely stunning city, the views from atop Table Mountain are breathtaking. It's also a great launch pad to do a day tour of the Cape. All that being said, there is a ton of crime in Cape Town, and I don't see much that is going to make it much safer any time soon.

Yeah the power issue is why we didn't go in March. The issue is we want to go, and I can't see it getting better

We were in South Africa 2018 and enjoyed Capetown for two days and had a great time. Lots of history and scenery. Since then, the government has changed a lot and currently there is some unrest so be careful.

I purposely wore a Cape Horn t-shirt around town one of the days and it took until the bar at 8:00 that night for one lady to tell me "young man - you are in the wrong place."

Table Mountain with it's tablecloth:

I've been three times in the last 6 years and it's one of my favorite places in the world. Vergelegen is stunning, delicious, and fun (garden/winery/restaurant). Stellenbosch and Franshoek wine regions are close by and amazing. Meerlust, Waterford, Rust en Vrede , and Steenberg were our favorite wineries. Cheetah preserve where you get to pet baby cheetahs (not like tiger king at all). Camps Bay, penguins and seafood. Table mountain, Victoria and Alfred waterfront / wharf for restaurants and shopping. Also try to squeeze in a safari while there…unforgettable

Long story short...
My FIL lives there and has for 20+yrs. Hes looking to leave and get back to UK or Aus.
It's only getting worse, so any saying they went 6 yrs ago and had a great time may not be the most reliable for planning this trip. A lot has vhanged in the last 2 years.
