I'll be in Montreal next month for 1 evening. Any restaurant recommendations ? We're staying in a hotel near the airport, but we might be arriving early enough to travel around the city. Not looking for indian or mexican food.

It was 24 years ago, but the best place I ate there was Moishes.

I'll add on to this. Wife and I are going in September for a few days. We found a flight and hotel deal with Hotel Birks. Any recommendations are appreciated, we've never been to that area before.

Poutine at la banquise for the real deal

For fancy check monarque, jellyfish, or modavie

None of these are close to the airport though

Update just in case anyone might be going to Montreal......we had dinner at Au Pied de Cochon and it was delicious. The atmosphere was great and the service was excellent. I started with the tomato tart, followed by the pork chop. My wife started with some sort of BLT, followed by Shepherd's Pie ( lamb and venison ). We tried some of each and I think my choices were the winner. I was a bit reluctant to try the tomato tart, but it was incredible. An extremely light, fluffy pastry was loaded with cheese, tomatoes, fresh cream. My pork chop was a healthy portion, surrounded by potatoes and the entire dish was swimming in a delicious "gravy", probably a mix of pork drippings, butter, etc. . I ordered a side baguette, which was critical for sopping up the gravy. We split the maple syrup/bread pudding dessert, which was super rich.We didn't come close to finishing the bowl and it could probably be split 4 ways.
This place wasn't close to the airport hotel and our reservation took us through rush hour traffic. That was a bit disappointing, but we decided to go anyway since it's our 1st trip to Montreal.
The meal was kind of pricey, but the food, service and atmosphere was worth it. Just my 0.02 cents.

What would you recommend? We will be there in a month and are also going up to Quebec City one day.
