Will be flying several times in the upcoming year - two of them internationally. Do you use a flight alert service like Going (formerly Scott's Cheap Flights) or anything like that?

I'm trying to determine if its worth $199 for one year of someone else searching for cheap flights. I suspect I'll get that back with one good deal on an international flight.

I've used kayak for the last few years. Like the option to save flights to check prices later. They'll also send email updates to you if a flight price changes or is expected to based on their prediction algorithm. Will let you plug in number of bags, customize base on take-off and landing times, pick specific airlines and exclude others, etc to narrow your search.

As someone who follows escape Houston, I don't think this really helps the OP.

These accounts send out flights to popular destinations when they have low fares. They're great accounts to take random vacations when they go on "sale".

The OP seems to be needing to travel to specific places for work. So they want to track flights from Houston to London, for example, specifically. They don't care if flights from Houston to San Francisco, New York, or Paris are 50% off....

Yes, it'll help if an airline is having a sale that covers all flights, but not just if that flight drops if the OP isn't traveling to popular spots.

Again, I thought this is exactly what google flights does for no charge.. why are people paying for this service?

As mentioned here, Kayak. If you are not concerned about picking up reward miles it works best. I use them for the search then go to the airline's site to book it. It works well for the multi-city international trips.
