I'm pretty excited... my wife and I, my parents, brother, sister in law and their kids just booked a cruise out of England up through the Norwegian fjords and ending in Bruges on RC for next June.

My wife and I are typically not cruise people due to the fact that we'd rather spend more time in any of the locations a cruise would go and we want to soak in more local food and drink. But since this isn't a location we'd probably otherwise ever go I think this is a good avenue for us to see it.

Anyone done a Scandinavian cruise?

I had clients do one on Hurtigruten and loved it. But theirs wasn't a regular cruise ship and it was a VERY odd itinerary. It is more of a people mover ship than a regular cruise ship. It stopped in like 20 different ports going north and then back south, but was in most ports 5-15 minutes. It was the oddest thing, but that is what they wanted. They did talk about how beautiful everything was.

People use the Huntigarten to get from town to town on the Norwegian coast. They even load their cars like a ferry.

Tourists get off sometimes during the day and do excursions. Then pick the boat back up at the next town.

That was my experience at least.

Correct except I don't think mine ever got off the boat! But they said they had an amazing time so that is all that matters!

We didn't do a full cruise but did do a several hour boat tour of the fjords and my goodness that is probably the most beautiful, unbelievable scenery I've ever seen in my life!

I'm headed there in a few weeks.

I'm learning that you should tell no one that you're on a cruise. Apparently they HATE cruisers, think they are the scum of the earth parasites.

So there's that.

Look up Havila cruise. New competitor to Hurtingrutin. Has go good reviews,

Yes the word cruise is a travel 4 letter word, For me it is strictly destination. You just cannot do some places efficiently without being on a cruise.
