Mexico No Smoking Policy

Hoping one of the resident travel agents can shed some light on the no public smoking policy. Has Excellence Riviera Cancun closed the cigar lounge? Are the resorts really enforcing the no smoking except in designated area? Was hoping to be able to smoke some cigar's outside my room which is a swim up suite that has the day bed on the patio. Anyone have any recent Mexico stories concerning the smoking? I'm not that annoying guy who sits in a crowded area and puffs on a cigar. I've seen some reviews at different resorts that say no enforcement but curious what y'all have seen.

I was just in Juarez and you couldn't smoke on the street, but I was at various events and plenty of people were smoking in public places.

I heard of stuff in the beginning but not since then. Honestly I forgot all about it. I assume its fairly things as normal since I'm not hearing complaints (so smoking in designated areas). But I would be sure to just reach out to the resort before then to verify if that is a deal breaker for you.

Thanks JMac. We are already booked and it's not a deal breaker for us. Sounds like we can still enjoy a cigar and not be hassled but wanted to see if yall had heard anything. I did confirm their cigar lounge was closed though.

I think since it is a "private" place, that they can set their own rules.

Excellence cigar lounge was closed 2 weeks ago
