How long do you want to ignore this user?
My wife and I will have our 10th anniversary in late August. Over the last 10 years, we've had 4 kids and, needless to say, haven't had a chance to have many trips without kids. My mother-in-law has offered to watch the kids so we could go on a trip for a few days for our anniversary. Probably looking at a Wednesday/Thursday through Sunday trip, so probably not looking at anything international, except maybe Caribbean/Latin America (flying out of Houston).

Any ideas for a good couples trip in late august that isn't more than a 2-3 hour flight from Houston? I was thinking maybe Key West, Charleston, Savannah… maybe Tulum if we go out of country. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Mrs LOYAL AG and I just spent about that amount of time celebrating our 28th at Couples San Souci in Jamaica and LOVED IT! We arrived Thursday, 5/25 and left Tuesday, 5/30 so four full day. All inclusive resort that focuses on couples so no kids and no singles. The setting is beautiful and it's really not a huge place at all in fact there were lots of times we felt like we had the place to ourselves and it was sold out every day we were there. Only time we left was a 2-3 hour excursion to Dunn's River Falls.

Roughly three hour non stop flight from DFW because I couldn't find a nonstop from Houston. We spent a bit less than $2000 for the five nights but I'm a veteran and booked through a discount program they are affiliated with. I think it was like $2400 without that discount and airfare was $2150 or so.

We enjoyed it so much we were talking about returning on our second day and we're still talking about it.

First pic in a sunset view from patio outside of main office. Second is nighttime view from walkway about 100 feet from our room. Third is from our balcony. Final is from a hammock on Sunset Beach the final evening we were there.

If it was me, given the limited time you have and what you desperately need after 10 years and 4 kiddos, I'm headed to White Bay on Jost Van Dyke in the BVIs!

We've always been on a sailboat, so I've never actually had the opportunity to do this particular trip, but it's always been something that has had major appeal to me for a short trip.

Stay at the Sandcastle in White Bay, where you'll literally be a few yards from some of the most pristine water in the Caribbean. Spend your days sipping Painkillers from the Soggy Dollar Bar on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. And you'll eat like a king - grab a "taxi" for dinner to Foxy's around the corner in Great Harbour, then do Corsairs another night, then Sydney's in Little Harbour, and don't forget about Ivan's down the beach from you.

Not only are you in one of the most perfect places in the world, but you'll have it to yourself most of the day ... there's nowhere else to stay in White Bay, and the Sandcastle only has a few beach huts to begin with. The sailors pick up anchor early in the morning to head off to their next destination for the day and are slowly replaced throughout the afternoon for a different group of overnighters, and there are a couple of day-tripper ferry services bringing a few dozen folks for a couple of hours from St. Thomas or Tortola.

Other than that it's just you, your wife, a Painkiller, the sand, the sun and the water ...

It's not a resort destination, and it's not easy to get to, which is why it doesn't appeal to a lot of people. I would hop on a flight to Tortola, take a cab to West End and then a ferry to White Bay ... once you book your reservation at the Sandcastle they will help you make all the arrangements to get to them if you need it.

In August, get out of the heat. Go to Tahoe.

Good call . Stay at the Hyatt Incline Village… Love Tahoe….. in summer or fall… I don't want to be on the menu of the Donner party in winter
