Taking the wife to Santa Fe. Have a room booked at La Fonda and one at Loretto Inn & Spa. Got to drop one. Anyone have any suggestions or feedback on which one to stay at?

La Fonda is fine but my wife and I like the Inn & Spa at Loretto better. However the La Fonda rooftop bar is really great at sunset.

When we go, it's on government travel, so we're at the Homewood Suites at Buffalo Thunder.

But it's convenient to Los Alamos, Valles Caldera, Rancho de Chimayo, and Gabriel's restaurant. Recommend all.

Have breakfast, or at least authentic French Croissants at Clafloutis.

Of those two, Loretta is better. We normally stay at the Old Santa Fe Inn, and sometimes La Posada.

Another breakfast option is Tia Sophias. It's been there forever.

I just booked a room at the Hilton on the Plaza for one night next week. Any feedback from a location perspective? Is most of the sites and restaurants within walking distance? Is the area "safe"? Sorry but I've never been….Recommended New Mexican restaurants? TIA

It's close to the plaza and several restaurants and galleries. Area is good. On the other side of plaza is The Shed. One of my favorite restaurants.

Can't give any comparisons, but my stay at La Fonda a couple of years ago was fine. Room was OK, but the whole place seemed like it was due for some updates. Pretty nice pool area. Obviously a great location.

Always stayed at La Fonda. Historic and a nice hotel. But I thought the rooms were very small and cramped. If I'm not mistaken, I don't think the regular rooms have a King bed.

Went last week for a few days and decided to stay at Loretto. Glad we did. Rooms are much better.

Rooftop on La Fonda was great.

Pasqual's for breakfast. The Shed for one dinner. Geronimos on Canyon Drive is outstanding as is Santacafe.

Found a restaurant just a couple blocks off the square on Marcy - Horno. Great food
