Anyone know of a vacation spot that is similar to the one in this movie? A place that is on the lake, has a town with go karts, kids activities, etc?

I have always wanted to shoot a bear in the ass with a shotgun lamp. Try somewhere around Branson. Probably a hundred places that will meet your needs.

Used to have a brother in Fresno and we would pass by Bass Lake on the way up to Yosemite. Always wanted to visit. Non Cali option would best be replicated in the Midwest as others suggest, particularly Wisconsin which also has a ton of waterparks.

If you shoot a bear in the arse with a shotgun lamp, record it in landscape mode for better playback.

I definitely always think of Wisconsin or Michigan when I watch that movie. Would be my best guess in finding similar.

They filmed at Bass Lake, CA. Could try that...Never heard of it myself, but it does look pretty nice online. That is, if the state isn't on fire when you happen to go.

Many folks have flown into Fresno to go to Yosemite you drive near it when you passthrough Oakhurst. If you are a fan of the movie and drive by the lake, it immediately clicks in.

Munising, MI and the rural Michigan UP were pretty sweet - went during the peak of fall leaves etc last year, which was great, but it felt like a place that would be amazing in the summer too

I think the movie was supposed to be the woods of northern WI or even MN..so anywhere between the UP and Duluth should feel authentic enough

Oh, blow it out your ass.

I researched the exact same question a couple of years ago for the exact same reason -- I wanted to replicate the movie's lake experience with my kids. Then it was COVID so we stuck closer to home, but Wisconsin seemed to have the most places that fit the bill.

Must haves:

Boat rental
Steak House
Bear Dump
Arcade / Pool Hall where the local hotty hangs out
Driving Range
Go Karts
104 year old local legend
Bait shop with leeches

The closest we have come to that type of vacation was renting a house on the water on Conway Lake in northeast New Hampshire. We fished, paddle boarded, canoed, kayaked, s'mores on the fire pit, etc. Lots of national forest nearby to hike and the small towns are great. Cranmore is a nearby ski resort with great summer activities.
