Wife and I are going to Merida in a week. We want to do a couple of day trips to ruins (Uxmal or Mayapan) and to beach (Celestun, Sisal, or Progreso). I'm leaning Uxmal and Sisal, anyone been to either? Maybe a trip to Izamal, Eva Longoria visited there on her CNN show.
As far as Merida, we just plan to eat, drink, enjoy the atmosphere and culture. Recs appreciated.

Will you be driving? The little town of Pomuch is not terribly far from Uxmal. The cemetery is a pretty intense experience.

We likely won't rent a car. Will use bus, taxi, or Uber. We've been to Chichen Itza and Tulum before so thinking Uxmal might be an interesting trip. I would rather try Sisal for beach trip to avoid cruise ship crowds at Progreso.

Do you have any cenotes on your list?

Progreso was quiet (in a good way) when we went in 2021. I don't remember seeing any lounge chairs but I am sure there were there somewhere.

We went to Uxmal today and then Cenotes Hacienda Mucuyches. The hacienda tour was good but the cenotes were another world. BTW, it's hot as balls and humid in the Yucatan right now.
