Going to Vegas for a week during 4th of July. Have never been before. Mainly going due to a bowling tournament and staying at the Orleans.

Looking for things to do to fill up my time there. Will just be myself probably. Not really a gambler.

I would add the Mob Museum to that list.

Hoover Dam is touristy, but, it you haven't seen it it's worth a look
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Have been to Vegas 30+ times and have done pretty much everything. Not an expert but here are my top 5 non gambling things to do.

5. Pool- probably not a huge scene at the Orleans but the pool scene in Vegas is always nice. Usually good sun, good scenery and good service. There's usually a party side or time and a relaxed side/time so choose wisely.

4. Hoover Damn- pretty cool and massive piece of American History. It's a decent drive out there but if you're on the strip for a few days it's worth it to get away. Make sure and do the actual tour so you can go inside and see the turbines etc.

3. Golf- I'm a golfer so this may not pertain to you but Vegas has some pretty good courses and I love desert golf.

2. Desert Dune Buggies- we had a company come and pick us up at our hotel, drive us out to the desert and we rode dune buggies for 3 hours. It sounded very touristy to me before we did it but it was awesome! And this from someone who grew up on go carts, dirt bikes and motorcycles.

1b - food. Never had a bad meal. Have had ok meals but never a bad one and plenty of great ones. Doesn't have to be expensive either.

1. People watching- my by far favorite memory of Vegas is my wife and I just casually grabbing a table at the piano bar near the Bellagio entrance around noon and not leaving until midnight drunk off our ass. Just sat there, drank, listened to the piano, watched hookers and Johns, random people, couples fight, degenerates moping etc. just a world class place to people watch.

If all else fails just drink and walk the strip!

It will be scorching in July. Lots of good ideas above but choose wisely with the heat. We did neon museum a few years ago mid day not a good idea. Go at night in summer.

Resorts World has the Tesla tunnel to the convention center. Also, great pool areas and Tacos El Gordo across the street.

Nuke museum, while small, was pretty cool from what I recall.

I will also be there end of June for a bowling tournament.
Chances are OP is old.
So I would suggest him to just sit in a/c at a casino and pretend he's playing slot machine while getting free drinks.
Or sit in a/c at a sports book and watch tv.

Calling out someone for being old/lame while admitting to going to Vegas for a bowling tournament

Don't know what's lame about going to Vegas for a sporting event these days.
Have you ever been there?

Get some bowling buddies and go to Spearmint Rhino early, like around 7-8. Drinks are affordable at that time and the 'people watching' is top notch. Gets too crowded later at night.

Also, I went in July once - you will want to use the tunnel malls underground to get everywhere to avoid the heat. And, you can shop for gifts for your SO while walking around.

I tried to tell some buddies about ATV tours and everyone always thinks it sounds touristy but is very fun.

I've been with 3-4 different outfits. They aren't all the same.

Also rented sports cars: Audi R8 V10 and GT-R on the track for 7 laps. Absolute blast but takes a long time from start to end.... 2-3 hours with waiting, forms, prep all for 15 minutes. And it used to be $200-$350. I think it's a lot more.
