Chase's place for drinks and food. small menu, but good....thats about it imo for food. Haven't found a place besides Chase's worth returning to.

This was years ago but we booked a wine tour party bus type thing with about 10-12 people and we hit about 6 wineries....it was awesome. We started at 10 am and we were done around 3 pm or so and that was more than enough time for our group. Sorry that I don't have specific locations but that's always an option.

Otto's. Really good dinner last time we ate there.

The Stable Cocktail bar has really good drinks.

Vaudeville is outstanding, but $$$. Best place in town IMHO. Great value for lunch. Get the Rueben.
Hill & Vine has been good once, very good twice.
Martini's Seafood is also excellent, but $$$.
Granite House is good, so is Otto's.

I usually avoid running anyone down, but don't go to Navajo Grill or August E's. Both are still somehow surviving off their old reputations from a decade back.

If you are okay with casual, Nury's on Washington is great for breakfast and lunch (I've eaten there 10+ times and left happy 100%). Unique items on the menu, like Cochinita Pibil. Cheap Mexican = Hilda's, my favorite lunch spot. Prometheus Pizza is at food truck at the corner of Hwy. 87 and Friendship Lane and they have legit gourmet pizza starting at 4pm every day.

I'm not as up on the bar scene. Chase's Place and The Stable are the only upscale bars I've been to.

Crossroads is top of the bar scene. The others have the restaurants pegged pretty much. Velvet Lounge can be really good too if the right groups of bachelorettes are in town.

  • Sunday Brunch at Vaudeville - Awesome Fried Chicken
  • Otto's is great food, but last time we went service was a bit lacking. It is expensive too.
  • +1 for Chase's Place, great bar and fantastic food - Had the lamb and it came with the best brussels sprouts I have ever had.
  • Cabernet Grille is also pretty good, and has a fantastic Texas Wine list to boot. Plus awesome atmosphere.
  • If you're looking for a really fun experience, head to the Hanger Hotel. They have a '50s diner that sits on the flight line and you can watch the airplanes fly in and out. They taxi right up to the outside of the diner so you can go look at them after you eat. Some people just fly in to get lunch and then fly back to wherever they came from. Just check the hours first, I think they're only open for lunch on Thursdays, and Breakfast/Lunch Fri-Sun.
  • Hanger hotel also has a pretty cool "Officer's Club" (The Hotel Bar). Usually live music on weekends, but the drink selection isn't as wide as places you can go downtown (iirc). I also think it is only open Fri/Sat.
