Anyone stayed at this place? Looking at a Belize trip in June or July. I will want to fish a couple of days for Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit and maybe an offshore trip with my wife. Nightlife not too terribly important but we love good food and drinks. Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I have - we really enjoyed the resort. Its one of the "higher end" joints on Ambergris.
Not Jimmy Big Time but we did book the 3BR penthouse for our fam and it was awesome. The resort is very nice and the service/food/drinks are all good. You can paddle a kayak out to the reef and attach to a buoy. Go to the buoys on the north side if you want "eater" fish. I spearfished one morning and made fish tacos for lunch for the family. That was a blast.
For fly fishing contact the Bradley Brothers
https://www.facebook.com/GeorgeBradleyFishingGuide/or El Pescador and see if they have a guide available. Plenty of reef and offshore options available. If you want to have fun....contact Seakarus Tours and do the Survivor tour - Clifford is a really funny dude
https://seakarus.com/toursTips:
- Go in July and it will be lobster season - always fun.
- I'd just rent a golf cart whenever you get the urge directly from the resort. Grand Caribe has a fleet of nice ones. We rented 2 for a whole week and found it was a waste when we just wanted to hang at the resort.
- They have a shuttle that will pick you up at the airport - let them arrange your transfer flights from BZE - I wouldn't do the water taxi.
- Cheaper to stop at the grocery store and pick up essentials. We did the preorder deal made available by the resort and that worked out great - fridge stocked when we got there. They also have a store onsite but its pretty $$
- The Chicken Drop is kinda meh......but I guess you have to see that if you go....personally...I would skip
- Restaurants to consider: Truck Stop, Stellas, Carolines, Hidden Treasure, Estel's
- Caramba - pick your fish is fun
- Marbucks Coffee House is a cool scene for b-fast
- We ate b-fast most of the time in our room but we did have dinner at the resort ($$$) - I'd go out for everything - there is a ton of great food on the island
- Bars: we like Crocs, Palapa bar and hanging at Secret beach for an afternoon (1 is enough IMO) - tons of great bars - follow the music
- Avocados the size of footballs
We are going in August but staying at Victoria House.
