How long do you want to ignore this user?
My wife mentioned doing an extended weekend getaway for my birthday. Her idea was a quick trip down to Galveston (we live in N Houston) despite living in Houston my entire life I've been to Galveston very little.

Anyone have any opinions on the San Luis Resort? The wife heard it's all inclusive but I'm not really seeing that on their website.

Positives? negatives? Alternative locations on the island?

Hopes for the trip are beach, pool, drinks, dinners and a round of golf.

Thanks in advance for any advice

It's a nice hotel for everything you mentioned.

Agree it is a nice hotel, solid bar, very good pool and is a nice weekend getaway. And lots of good restaurants in the area.

Look at the Galvez too.
If you want to do it differently, look way down at pointe west.
Moody is your spot for golf.

I agree it's a great spot for what you're looking for. Nice restaurant inside and a very nice swim up bar area.

If it's not all inclusive it's probably going to be off the list. That was the draw with being $100-150 more which would easily be a wash with drinks and meals

Any other more affordable option recommendations?

There are no all inclusive resorts on Galveston Island that I am aware of. It's not a nice enough destination to have all inclusive.

I didn't think there was but I had seen something saying the San Luis was. But couldn't find it listed.

I did see some "packages" that they offer that discussed breakfasts etc. and maybe they have a drink package or something that could be considered all inclusive.

I've never seen an all inclusive package there. But, if you are trying to save a little $, check Vrbo or AirBnB for a condo to rent at San Luis. They are often less per night than the hotel and have a full kitchen, so you could cook a few meal and also bring some drinks to have in the room. If you're looking at be the hotel from Seawall, the hotel rooms are the left tower and the condos are the right tower.

Or try the Hilton next door. You could still access all the nearby restaurants and the Hilton also has a decent pool, although I think the San Luis is better.

I like the San Luis. Pretty nice. Good steakhouse on site. Pool/bar area is fun. It's a good easy weekend stay from Houston. There are nicer beaches in the world, but they aren't as close.
