Wife and kids are wanting to visit a nice beach location for families, either this Summer or next October during kids' Fall Break (Fall Break is a week off up here in Tennessee), preferrably out of continental US for a more unique experience, but open to homeland destinations with nice beaches.

Concerns for me are safety for the wife and kids, and of course something that won't break the bank.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Bahamas. I prefer Baha Mar but, depending on how much time we have, we like to split between Atlantis and Baha Mar…Atlantis seems to have slightly more for younger kids. The Baha Mar waterpark is great once the kids are tall enough to do everything there.

Ocean Club for Atlantis days is fantastic depending on budget and has full access to Atlantis. Also plenty of excursions, such as to Exuma. On the other end of the spectrum budget wise, there is a Comfort Suites that also offers full access to Atlantis. And of course all the Atlantis towers are somewhere in between those two.

I'd do the Hyatt or Rosewood at Baha Mar based on budget.

Forgot to mention, kids are 17, 14, and 9.

With those ages I'd either do Ocean Club if it's in budget or Baha Mar.

OP says don't want to break the bank. Other poster suggests The Ocean Club (Four Seasons Property) where rooms in the summer start at $1400 per night. Everyone on Texags a millionaire.

Also suggested the comfort inn. Gave both ends of the spectrum and I have no idea how much it takes to break his bank.
