Comparing Lombok versus Bali. We will have a few weeks in Bali already, and thinking about Lombok for about a week. Any thoughts? Suggestions ?

Ive been twice. Ive stayed at the Jeeva Klui and Qunci Villas. Both are awesome. Lombok is more laid back and has a lot of great hikes and viewpoints that Bali doesnt really have. My email is in my profile if you have any specific questions. I think the trip over is worth it.

Lombok is cool. So is Nusa Penida. Depending on what you're looking for I'd explore the Gili's too.

I love Lombok! I spent 3 weeks there in 2017- beautiful place, fantastic people. The Gili islands are great, too many beaches to list for swimming and snorkeling, and numerous national parks to visit. We stayed on the south end of the island and explored it pretty thoroughly via scooter.

Which of the two hotels do you suggest? For the time period we are looking, they are both a great price.

Lombok is beautiful. I preferred the Gili Islands, but you really can't go wrong.

Also hotel suggestions for Gili?

We just showed up and found a place. I don't remember the name of the place but it was just a basic hotel.

I think there were some folks around to try and lure you to their hotel, but we just walked down the main street there and stopped in a couple of places to ask about availability.

I'm going to Bali, Penida, and Gili air in early April. Spent some time in Gili T a few years back and spend a lot of time in Bali.

Lombok is much quieter, no where as crazy as southern Bali. Would highly recommend the Gilis. Time your travel correctly as Lombok gets pretty wet during the rainy season. If you like surfing, a lot of the spots on the southern end of Lombok. If you're going to the Gilis, you can fly direct to Lombok, catch a car across the island, then another boat. Or you can fly to Bali and catch a ferry from Padang Bai.

We are in Bali right now, and we leave tomorrow before the day of silence. We will be back in the area from Singapore in early April, so Lombok should be fine weather wise. Is Gili T the best option for first time?

Depends on the vibe you're after. Gili T can be more party / backpacker vibe. Gili Air is meant to be more laid back. Try Gili T, the islands are next to each other so if you don't like it you can always just move.

Just spent three days at Jeeva Klui on Lombok. Sadly, too cloudy to really enjoy the sunset, but the hotel was great. We just took a boat over to Gili T, and are on the west side by sunset beach. Should be quieter, and we are looking forward to it.

Lombok is very very quiet if you compare it to Bali, especially since the earthquake which destroyed a lot of buildings there. There are definitely some nice places to see but for us 4 days was enough. Did you consider going to Gili? We traveled to Asia last time with the travel agency cause of the good National Express reviews on the site. How did you plan your travel : alone or with the help of professionals?

On Gili T right now. On the sunset beach side, so away from the backpackers. It's been enjoyable
