Anyone coming to CO for SB? If so heavy snow expected over the next 10 days for Western/Central/Southern CO.

The San Juan's are supposed to catch 40 inches, Steamboat around 28, Aspen around 30, and Vail/BC 18-20. Unfortunately further east in Breck and Keystone won't see much. Probs 8-12.

Winter Park getting some this weekend but not much while we're there (Monday to Wednesday). That said base should be good and temps look great.

I was there last week. They could use some snow. The base is good but it's mostly hard pack refreeze. The trees need a refresh. Look like 10 over 5 and 16 over the next 10 for WP, so better than nothing.

They just updated the forecast and 38 inches is now expected in Aspen and 28 in Vail/BC

Flying into Durango? If so make sure you have 4WD. 550 is gonna be gnarly this weekend and most of next week. If you're flying into Montrose, watch red mountain pass because it may close

42 inches expected over the next 10 in Purg.

We are driving to Buena Vista this Sunday/Monday from BCS and driving back the next Saturday. Do you think we'll have any trouble? Need 4x4?

I think the roads will probs be a cluster in the high country but you should probs be ok once you're through Raton. BV is on the eastern side of the CD so no real gnarly passes.

Driving up from Marble Falls on Saturday. Sounds like it could get a little sporty north of town. Both vehicles are 4x4 so hopefully we are in good shape.

Where in the state are you driving?

Anything's west of 285 and 24/6 is gonna be a **** ***** Anything east will probs be fine. West of the red line below = gnarly AF roads.

BV to Salida to Alamosa should be fine.

Thank you! If we plan to drive to Monarch or Ski Cooper from BV, would it be better to have 4x4? My truck is 4x4 but not as comfortable as the 2wd Expedition.

Monarch Pass gets nasty, but Salida is on the easier part. Maysville to Monarch is way better in snow than Sargents to Monarch.

If it was me, I'd ski Monarch and not Cooper. Cooper is going to be 2x-3x as far away and that means more roads to potentially get f'd on and you're going through higher elevation.

I'd 4WD it but that's just me - going up Monarch in a snowstorm in 2wd would be a f no for me personally.

Way more snow at Monarch too. I just had friends ski Coop and said it actually needed snow. I'd stick to Monarch…

If you're in BV, you should see about going to Cottonwood or Mt Princeton hot springs.

@JustPanda I'm driving up to Pagosa on Monday, planned on going through Sante Fe up thru Chama. You think I'll have any issues going over that small pass area on 84 between Chama and Pagosa? We'll be in a 4x4. Supposed to be skiing Wolf Creek next week, but with all of that snow not sure how much skiing us Texas boys will get to do, unless the roads clear. TIA.

Depends on where the dry line settles but I think you should be fine. Chamas expected to only get 3-5 inches and Pagosa is supposed to be dry.

It's really once you get into the mountains and into the higher elevation passes that things will get gnarly.

It's Pagosa to WC that may be an issue but regardless at least youre in a cool town in PS. Last heavy snowfall, the road between PS and WC was closed for almost the entire weekend due to blizzard conditions.

Wife has already scoped out the hot springs. Sounds like we'll have to give them a try. Appreciate all the information.

The Collegiate Peaks and CR390 north of BV is one of my fav places to camp in the state. Such a gorgeous area in the spring/summer/fall.

Now saying 67 inches in WC by Monday. 48 in Telly. 38 in Aspen. 55 on Red Mountain Pass.

Roads are a total **** show. Please be careful driving today.

I-70 is closed eastbound in several places and is down to one lane in several other places between the high country and Denver.

550 is completed snow covered and wind blown from Ridgway to Silverton. Please monitor cotrip before making the move and DO NOT USE GPS TO REROUTE YOU - know the main route and ancillary routes before you leave! You will not have cell service in the high country when going through the worst passes and if your phone GPS moves you onto an unplowed or closed up ahead CR, you're toast.

550 between Electra Lake and Silverton is now closed both directions.
