Seems like our kind of place- just a lil concerned about dengue fever.

Any travel scoop?

My best friend, also an Aggie, has been there. He and his wife have traveled all over the world, and he said the water and the sand there was the most beautiful he had ever seen. Over the Seychelles, Bora Bora, Tahiti, Hawaii, Caribbean, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and other beaches. Below is a cellphone pic he took, probably over 10 years ago, without "enhancing" the image. I used to have that photo as my cellphone wallpaper. It's obviously quite remote, I think they flew through Hawaii first to get there.

BTW; Hawaiian Airlines starting service from HNL to RAR in late May. I am definitely interested in going.

Just asked him again. He said it was only 8 years ago. Whatever iPhone was used back then captured the pic. He said that Aitutaki was the best, and the lagoon there was nothing short of amazing. Crystal clear water goes on forever.
"Never deeper than about 10 feet. No sharks. Amazing sea creatures and a bunch of little islets in the lagoon. Absolutely amazing" - his quote.

Random week in August - $2200 and not a fan of the short layover on return. Obviously depends where you are traveling from. Dallas flights are worse.

I've lived in the tropics for 14 years and have never gotten dengue or malaria. Out of my entire group of long term expat friends, only one has got dengue. Get a good DEET based repellant and you'll be alright.
