How long do you want to ignore this user?
So I'm ~2,500 points from AA Platinum Pro whilst currently sitting at BNA getting back to DFW. My advantage account already reflects the RT flight (I think), so it sounds like I need to find a way to get those points in the next 4 days.

I'd prefer not to go down too much of a wormhole on various forums, reddit, etc. that I know will help me with this (because it sounds like it could be cumbersome...)

Can someone give me a quick low down on how to easily (and preferably cheaply) get those 2,500 points before 28 Feb? Would be flying from DFW.

Your return will not post until the flight has been completed.

That said your easiest option is a quick round trip to somewhere in tx like austin or san antonio. Those are probably about $400 at the moment and would cover your gap.

i hope you're right and this is moot! don't think anywhere in texas is far enough (well...maybe el paso)...we shall see. thanks!

edit 2: i think the rt total points posted in full when i took the first flight (this would be consistent with previous activity). could be wrong.

can't speak for AA, but my other airline points never post until after both flights of a RT have been completed.

AA does not post until complete. Just look at you detailed activity and you will see that.

Yes anywhere in texas i far enough. It is the ticket cost not the distance on AA. A ruond trip DFW to AUS is about $450 right now on sunday that would net you about 2100 point if you had no status, since you are look to get platinum pro you should be platinum so that nets you about 3300 points.

Note I am EP on AA and have been for years so I am very familiar with when flights post on AA.

Buy a bunch of crap on the eshopping portal.

And I'm pretty sure that points and miles post the day you travel regardless of the leg (and I am EP as well).

Use rocketmiles or AAhotels and book a room somewhere. Vegas has some rooms where you can get upwards of 10k LPs for the same price as a mileage run. Just make sure it is a pre-paid room where you can no show and still be fine.

The only disclaimer is LPs take 1-2 weeks to post so we are already within that window now to hit by 2/28. But from the research I've done, apparently they will backdate to the checkout date to credit so supposedly should be fine. I am currently sweating out my last $100 hotel stay to get my ~4k points needed.

But as others have said, that flight won't post until completed so you should be good.

i've been getting emails from AA to buy my way up to the next level, you probably have to...the price has gone down as I've gotten closer.

The post the day of travel after the leg has been flown.

If you've got an AA credit card and have a big bill due, pay it on the card to get you closer.

Interesting, UA now posts after each leg.

Yup, it's pretty much posted the instant you land.

I'm 3900 short of gold. What's the cheapest and quickest way to get to gold before the end of the month. It's on aa.

@matsui....not sure there's much option beyond knocking out a flight that will get you what you need. maybe the EP folks can offer suggestions.

and to all the folks who said it would reflect after the trip...it did. thanks. made platinum pro (by 65 points). i also got the loyalty choice reward that came with it. the systemwide upgrade is definitely the one to use, right? i have a flight to hawaii in december with the family and this seems like the best choice.

I see that I can just purchase items thru AAdvantageshopping.com and it credits it right to my account. Does anyone know if this counts towards status?

Pretty sure $1 spent = 1 loyalty pt, + any bonuses

Counts toward loyalty points which counts toward status. So I think the answer is yes

Systemwide tends to be the beat option but right now even those are hard to use on long flights.

Book a hotel room through AA website. The miles accrued post as base miles, easiest way to get over the humo and you get credit for taking the wife out for a night away and may get lucky.

And do this using an AA credit card to double up.

I confirmed yes the AA shopping points do count toward your yearly mileage goal.
