Taking a 5 day 4 night vacay last week of March. I want to go to Sedona. Wife wants to see the Ark Encounter in Kentucky.

Guess where we are going.

Other than bourbon trails and distilleries (which I plan on enjoying) What else in the area?
Any civil war battlefields?
We are big history buffs
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Driving or flying?

I'd fly into CVG and knock out the Ark. Drive to Lexington to see the Horse Park. Start the Bourbon trail in Woodford County and work west to Louisville.

See Louisville slugger and eat a Hot Brown at the Brown Hotel.

Drive onto Fort Knox and see the Patton Center.

Fly out of Louisville.

If you need to fill more time, eat barbecue at Moonlite, then go to the 101st Museum in Ft Campbell and then fly out of Nashville.

You're in luck, there way more civil war battlefields in Kentucky than in Sedona.

Louisville Slugger Factory
Mammoth Cave NP
Abraham Lincoln Birthplace (if in area - don't make a special trip)
Fort Duffield Park & Historic Site (if in area) - https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/kentucky/fort-duffield-loop-trail
State Capitol and old State Capitol
Ashland - The Henry Clay Estate
Clifty Falls State Park
Kentucky Horse Park
Kentucky Derby Museum (meh...may or may not be worth checking off the list for you)

I'll note that the Creation Museum is somewhat nearby. I've not been to either, but that might be worth pairing with the Ark Experience. But that would really put your home base up in Cincy.

I'll also add that I've not been down to the Daniel Boone National Forest, but it looks tremendous from what I've seen.

We flew into Cincinnati, rented a car, saw the Ark and the Creation Museum. Then we drove through KY and ended up in Nashville. Can't remember everything we did.

Bowling Green:
National Corvette Museum
Lost River Cave - little tourist attraction that ended up being pretty interesting.

Mammoth Caves NP and do at least one cave tour

If you'll remember, several years back, there was a sinkhole that opened up right under the National Corvette Museum. They caught it on the security cameras. They repaired it and put in a plexi glass floor so that you can see into the sinkhole. They also painted the outline of the actual sinkhole on the repaired floor… it's pretty interesting. The cars that went into the sink hole were pulled out, if possible some of them are still in the same state as when they were pulled out. They were complete losses, others were repaired.

It was so pretty there. Loved it. I couldn't live there though. I'd be constantly afraid of a sinkhole opening up and swallowing my house up.

If you're lucky, maybe the cherry trees will be blooming in Lexington…beautiful countrysides. Horse farms in Lexington are gorgeous! Enjoy your trip and maybe repirt back in the Ark experience as this is on my list as well.

Bards town is a great little historical town. Home of Makers Mark (with ~a dozen distilleries "near by"), Stephen Foster's Old Kentucky home, Abe Lincoln's birthplace nearby, lots of Civil War museums, etc.

Bardstown was surprisingly cool. Really cool brewery/restaurant called Scout and Scholar there that I'd recommend.
