Suggestions on spots to stay, 2 adults

Depending on when you want to go. The brand new Impressions Secrets Isla Mujeres is delayed to open until end of May 2023. I have clients that enjoy the Zoetry property there. Also Isla Mujeres is very accessible by ferry and a short ride from the Playa Mujeres area if you want to look at options there.

We've stayed at Hotel Ixchel and Playa Arena both on Playa Norte. Ixchel was a little nicer, hence the price but they are next door to each other so the beach is effectively the same. Arena was perfectly fine and would do that again over paying for Ixchel. The convenience for the beach and Hidalgo St is tough to beat.

The next time we go there's a good chance we'll stay here http://villalabella.com/ as we love the bar and the grounds and there is some easter, beach access that's basically private. You'd just have to taxi or rent a golf cart to get to Playa Norte or Hidalgo. But regardless it's a must visit for Bar La Bella even if you stay elsewhere.

To me, Isla is not the place to go for AI.

We love Privilege Aluxes when we don't have the kids with us (PA is adults only). They are currently remodeling so some rooms aren't available but should be soon. The new renovations look very nice. We go multiple times a year both with and without our kids.

We've always enjoyed Ixchel. It's right on Playa Norte and a block from downtown. We once stayed long term and got a house further south, which was nice, but the beaches aren't great . For a week or so, Ixchel is what we prefer.

Going with the wife for a few days in April.

Any recommendations on places to eat? Good breakfast/ brunch food?

Best beach club?

We always have breakfast (and at least one dinner) at North Garden up by playa Norte.

We stayed here a few years ago and loved it. Location is fantastic

We did the all-inclusive option and it was cheap enough that we didn't feel guilty going out around town to eat dinner.

We've been wanting to go back and have said when we do we may look into a VRBO or AirBnB rental. You can find some pretty nice houses and condos for rent.

For breakfast/brunch check out Mango Cafe

It's pretty popular and can get pretty crowded but it's fantastic and owned by a couple couple Texan transplants (if I'm not mistaken)

For lunch La Justicia de Don Pino for fresh ceviche and seafood. It's a fisherman co-op type place where fresh seafood is bought from local fisherman daily. Super fresh and really good. It used to be on the water but looks like it's now moved a bit more centrally.

Agree with Mango Cafe. We go there quite often as well. For a change of pace, we like pizza (we take kids) at Oscars Grill.

Agreed on the all inclusive option there. It was dirt cheap when we went… definitely worth it just for apps and drinks around the pool
And then dinners out around the island.

(As others said - not the type of place with great food options all around you want to feel chained to your resort).

Any suggestions for a group of 4 buddies going down to Isla to do some fishing? We're considering Keen M for fishing charter for a couple of days, but are looking for recommendations for hotel. Probably not looking at doing any all inclusive since we will be offshore all day and back for dinner/cervezas.

We stay at Ixchel. It's on playa north. Nice and clean and very close to downtown restaurants.

Make sure and get the guided golf cart bar crawl. Do some research to find the best outfitter.
