Travel after losing ID

Anyone ever done this? TSA says there are alternate ways of verifying your identity, but you gonna get the full on ass grab in the security line. The Google tells me they search public info to confirm what you tell them or some such. Stepkid lost ID and can't get a replacement in time for flight. No passport or school ID. Have a picture of the ID where you can clearly see name, pic, numbers, etc. Tried calling TSA (HA!) to see what the process involves and although there are allegedly agents available, you get stuck in a loop of prerecorded BS with no real people.

Also fear getting two different answers in two different airports and getting stuck. Ideas?

Is the kid a minor? TSA didn't really start asking my son for ID until he turned 18, especially if I escorted him (you can get an escort pass from the airline at the check in desk).

over 18 but IDD. Not sure how much of a file (for lack of better description) she's got. Southwest agent we talked to said she used to work for TSA and she's seen a bunch of people get through after losing stuff. She said the trick was planning for the extra time. Just hate to get the one TSA dude having the I hate my life day.

A few weeks ago, I saw someone try to check in a the counter with a birth certificate due to a lost id. I saw them take them towards airport security to verify their ID, but have no idea how that occurs.

Edit - My daughter had her wallet stolen and it took about 10-days to get a new DL printed. Perhaps you have time. Also, I normally have scanned copies of ID's, passports for various things. Perhaps you have something on file as well.

Had my ID (and passport) stolen in ABQ and went through this. Had 3 flights over the next week and it was actually no problem.

I'd initially had my wife overnight me some personal documents (birth certificate, SS Card) and a utility bill in case they needed proof of address. I had copies of my DL and Passport, but they seemed to pay more attention to the other documents. It did indeed take a bit longer, but it honestly wasn't too bad.

The only issue I had was in El Paso where the agent said that I had to have an ID to fly and I had to re-educate them.

This will change in 2025, when everyone has to have that new "Real ID" deal.

Good first step would be to go to the dmv and wait in line to get a new one. They print you the paper version on the spot. Spend an hour waiting at the dmv, or spend an hour each way at TSA.

Tell them you are sovereign citizen and don't have to provide identity to freely travel.

We were flying back home from Knoxville, I handed my ID to the idiot at the ticket counter, she never gave it back. Got everything taken care of and she says "have a good trip." I asked for my ID. She looks around, can't find it anywhere. I was so pissed. They let me through security, but no pre-check and there was a bunch of nonsense they required, but they eventually let me through.

One time I got to the airport and realized when I switched to my travel wallet, I hadn't transferred my ID. There was no chance of going home and getting back in time to make the flight, so I just asked TSA what they could do. They pulled me aside and asked a few questions, had me explain why I didn't have an ID, and sign some forms. Then they called some sort of hotline and gave me the phone. Person on the phone asked a ton of the type of questions you get on credit applications like "which of these cars have you owned, which of these streets have you lived on", etc. Then they took me to the front of the line and had me go through screening as usual and sent me on my way. Probably took 30 minutes total. Not terrible, but I didn't want to go through it on the way home, so I had someone overnight me my ID.

I left my ID on a plane one year. I was flying from corpus to Omaha via dfw for a funeral and they did a second ID check at boarding. It was in my hand still when I stowed my bag and I didn't realize until after the plane left dfw and I was at the bar trying to get a drink and couldn't find it. I ended up flying back without it. TSA checked my credit cards and let me through. The ID ended up in Albuquerque before it was found and AA mailed it to the adress on it. Which then got forwarded to my actual home address and sent to me in nursing school.

Edit: if she has a texas id and you have a legible picture of it that you can read the long string of numbers and letters, why can she not go online and request a new one? I did that when mine was stolen in South Carolina. I was able to print it from home.
