Oldest son has a college visit in Golden this Friday…. I would appreciate any local restaurant recommendations or unique to the area things to do…

And yes, they have Twin Peaks in Houston!

Thanks in advance.

I like Bob's Atomic Burgers (right by Coors), D'Deli has some good sandwiches, Woody's Wood Fired Pizza has a nice pizza buffet.

Buffalo Bill's grave and a small museum is at the top of the ridge overlooking the town but it may not be accessible in winter weather. Nice view if you can go up there.

There is a pretty good public golf course there. Fossil something or another. Probably not golf weather right now, but you never know.

The Fort was always a fun restaurant to take visitors to when we lived there. Interesting history, great views.

My mom and aunt just went this last weekend and got back yesterday. They stayed at Table Mountain Inn and loved it. Said there is a great restaurant in the hotel.

We did a college visit there 2 years ago. Woody's pizza is pretty legit. We had dinner at both Buffalo Rose and Old Capital Grill and liked Buffalo Rose a little better. But Old Capital wasn't bad.

Covid had them closed but all the locals said Bob's Atomic Burgers was great.

Small downtown and not a lot of students out and about (bartenders and waitresses said they're all studying or playing video games) but it's really beautiful there.

They don't know if thats his actual grave. It's a bit of Wyoming Colorado historical issue.

Appreciate all the comments!

Had a great campus tour and enjoyed the Golden area. These are the places we hit up...

Stayed:
Hampton Inn Denver-West/Golden.
- It was fine, typical Hampton Inn.

Food:
Dirty Dogs Roadhouse (Golden)
- Good burgers and wings with a couple local beers on tap... Open late.

Miner's Market (Golden - CSM Campus)
-Not bad for campus dining, similar to the old Commons dining hall on south side.

Bonfire Burritos (Golden)
- Great breakfast tacos/burritos, mean Bloody Mary!

Beau Jo's Pizza (Idaho Falls)
- This place was great, probably my new favorite pizza. Order the "Mountain Pie" and then dip the crust in the honey, it was crazy good...
- Take the scenic drive through the canyon during daylight, beautiful drive!

Drink:
Had some great beers while in the Golden area, we did not have time to tour the Coor's facility.
Golden City Brewery
Mountain Toad Brewery
Miners Saloon (Tap room with local beers)

Done Did:
CSoM Campus Tour
- Good presentation and student led tour through campus.

Lookout Mountain Road / Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave
- Drove past the CSoM "M" sign and made a couple stops for pictures
- Stopped at Buffalo Bill's Grave, worth the stop and walk around. We were unable to confirm that he was indeed there as they got upset when we started digging...

Red Rocks Ampitheater
- We're a big live music family, this was a bucket list stop for us... It was great, will definitely go back for a concert.
