Who has been? which is better?

I've been to Excellence Rivera Maya and Finest Playa Mujeres (which shares the property with Excellence Playa Mujeres). Both were fantastic. Upgrading to excellence club is worth every penny. Service is top notch. Liked the beach better at PM.

I have been to several Excellence and Secrets properties and I have sent many clients to both brands.

Most all of them are great resorts it just depends on specific taste and style of resort.

For exampleI love the beach at Secrets Maroma but it sometimes can have more seaweed than others and more than Excellence Playa Mujeres.

It depends. Excellence Riviera Cancun has a murky beach, as does Secrets Riviera Cancun.

Excellence PM has excellent ratings. I've not been. Secrets Maroma is my favorite Secrets resort so far. Secrets Playa Mujeres has a nice beach but gets a lot of complaints on food and service. It truly varies resort to resort.

I've booked multiple Texagers to both EPM and Secrets.

I only have experience at one Secrets resort (Akumal), and I know things will vary depending on the specific location you're looking at, but I can say the service we got there was arguably the best of any place I've ever stayed (on top of the resort just being great as well). Everyone from the bellhops to the bartenders, concierge, waiters, etc were incredibly nice and gracious.

Completely depends on what you are looking for in a vacation. I've been to both Excellence resorts and several Secrets in the Riviera Maya area. I just stayed at Secrets Moxche and Akumal and love each for different reasons. I've had several clients love both brands for different reasons

We've been to various Secrets resorts and have enjoyed most of them with Secrets Maroma being our top pick of the bunch. In our opinion Excellence resorts edge out Secrets. EPM is great do the club level. Excellence Beloved is great too as it is a smaller property. EPM seemed to have the best food of these AI's. At EPM you can get lively or find quite places to chill.

I've just done one Excellence (first AI experience) and a few Secrets. While I certainly wouldn't complain about Secrets, I think Excellence takes the cake for me.

Why?

I wish Excellence would open more beloved type resorts in other locations...

Let me start with: I went to Excellence Punta Cana on our honeymoon more than a decade ago. Since then we did Secrets Maroma Beach and Secrets in Puerto Vallarta, both in the past 4 years. Small sample size, and i know that. Second, I'd be happy to go back to any of them, but we travel on credit card points so I'm more likely to do a Hyatt owned property than Excellence in the near future.

I felt like the food selection and quality was a little higher at Excellence, specifically more seafood options.

Beaches obviously vary by location, but Excellence has the free guided Hoby cats. At Maroma Beach, they had them one could rent free, but you had to know how to drive it. Since I didn't know how, we couldn't do it.

Rooms are about equally as nice. In room liquor was nice, but I don't know if that's totally gone after tainting, or just not at Secrets.

No major thing, and I'd love to go back to either. Just my recollection of Excellence was slightly higher than my more recent trips to Secrets properties.

Went to Finest Playa Mujeres because we heard it was great for kids. It was okay - had a good time - but I won't be going back. I know that's a minority opinion here.

Been to both and had great experiences at both.

I just booked a trip to Excellence playa mujeres which looks to be right next door. How was the beach?

Leaving Secrets Moxche today. It has been fantastic. It's beautiful, fantastic pools with different feels to each. Food has been delicious everywhere, entertainment has been very fun. Room and service are both top notch. The beach is very nice but the water is quite rocky about 10 feet in so I didn't spend much time in the ocean at all. But we hung out on the beach multiple times and that was great.

All in all, it has been a fantastic vacation at an incredible resort. I'd recommend it to anyone and it's honestly one of the nicest properties I have ever visited. My wife and I will absolutely return.

Beaches in that area are really nice. And less likely to have seaweed issues.

EPM is the gold standard. You will not be disappointed!
