I'll cross-post on the food forum as well.

Traveling to the in-laws this week and I want to carry my Meater thermometer with me. It would be in my carry-on since I do not plan to check bags.

I imagine that people have traveled with them if not to use but bringing as a gift or whatnot.

In theory they could say it could be used as weapon, but so could a pair of eye glasses that have a pointed end on the ear piece.

Is it in a box? So could a pen really. I would think it would be ok I've brought large Yeti cups that could crack someone's head but never had them say anything.

My guess is that if TSA finds it, you'll lose it.

If tsa finds it, you're checking it or leaving it behind. Probably airport dependent. Smaller airports seem to love finding things.

Yes you'll be fine. I've traveled with my thermapen multiple times and have never had an issue.

@Garrelli 5000: Did you get this through security? I am getting this for someone for Christmas and trying to figure out if I can fly with this! thx!
