I'm planning a ski trip after Christmas. The prices on Turo are much better than traditional rental cars. Does anyone have any firsthand experience using Turo? Thx.

I've never ordered a rental through Turo, but I have been on multiple trips where someone else in my group did. Went fine both times.

I've used Turo multiple times and been pleased. The only thing that I'm not sure on is their insurance policy. I've gone without it every time but it always makes me nervous.

One time, in Denver, we rented a Wrangler and the owner claimed it had a small crack in the windshield when we returned it. Thankfully my cousin had taken a video of the car that showed the crack while we were still in the parking garage before we started the trip and Turo dropped the complaint.

When I've looked into it it a few times it appears that neither my Amex or Chase covers insurance.
At that point when I've priced it out with their
Coverage it's never been cheaper...

Rented on Turo twice this summer. First was a suburban for a family vacation where we did 2000 miles, and the other was a luxury SUV for a long weekend. Both owners had a fleet of vehicles and 5 star rating.

We aren't sure if there was a chip in the window from a rock during our trip, but we had insurance, and the owner probably preferred to keep his 5 star ratings, so it wasn't even mentioned.

Felt more nervous driving these cars than with Hertz, but it all worked out with zero issues. Price difference was significant. One of Turo owners even delivered the car to my house for free.

I've had friends use Turo a few times, so I finally did it this summer in Denver. It was much cheaper than the insane rental prices this summer.

It was a bit of an awkward experience (like checking into an airbnb vs. the streamlined hotel experience), but it was worth the savings. The only downside was that I picked up at an airport economy lot, so I had to pay $10 or so to get the car out the gate. It might be a once a year thing for me when necessary, otherwise I'm sticking with the streamlined Hertz Gold experience.

Thanks for all the info! I think I'm going to give it a try. About half the cost of a rental agency…and better selection.

Yes, do it. I've used Turo six times and no complaints, only positive experiences.

Rented a Bronco in LA to drive to Malibu this summer, was a great experience. It was a hot day so the owner brought me a cold drink when I picked up. Super nice guy.
the_batman26: I guess yall need this, its something to take pride in. At least the Feds trusted us with the Space Center; and I seem to recall the Feds not having the best time in Dallas.

I've used it because it is way better than waiting an hour plus at a rental car place. Typically have used it when stating in a walkable city but wanting to take a day trip (think jack daniels from Nashville). I just find a car close to where I'm staying and can walk to it and hop in. Done it about 8 times with no real issues.
One time a guy canceled on us last min but it was no problem finding another car.

Pasting this here as an fyi

I kind of got screwed and screwed my self on Turo a week ago

I had used it one other time a few months ago in Tulsa and it was great

I booked a Turo last week because there were not any rental cars at MAF. I put MAF in Turo and a truck came up and I booked it. I land at 11pm on Tuesday night and check Turo, the truck is in a random neighborhood in Midland like 10 minutes from the airport. OK, I screwed up, let's get an Uber, $95 for 10 min ride. I am wait a few and pay $85 for the ride. It was my fault for not paying attention when booking, but I felt like it was a bait and switch.

The Turo renter in both cases were awesome to deal with.

The same thing almost happened to me in Tulsa the first time but I caught the address because it was a different city and some small town close to the airport.

Basically check the pick up address on your Turo

I'll use again but only if I have to

It's because Turo has been banned / lost the ability to pickup / leave cars at most terminals. Thus, they put the cars location as the terminal but then tell you to call them etc to arrange pickup. It's a total screw job bait and switch and 99% of the reason we no longer use them.

We used a place at SLC that has a fleet of luxury autos and have no complaints. Will definitely use again!

Used Turo once and it was a great experience. Trip got extended a few days because of weather, and the car owner was super accommodating.
