Grappa, River Horse, Handle, Courcheval. If you have to pick one, I would pick River Horse or Courcheval with Grappa really close. Ate at Grappa last night and it was fantastic.

River Horse is a pretty good place, but atmosphere is a little lacking if you are not seated in the dining area overlooking Main Street. As someone who could really consider myself as close to a local as you can get with my parents living there for many years, you will get a much better food experience at The Blind Dog. Excellent restaurant with similar cuisine.

Not the one in town, but the actual distillery on a mesa northeast of town on the grounds of a high end outdoor resort. Extremely beautiful and the restaurant was nice.

Both the High West options are good.

The in town Park City Saloon is great for a casual lunch/dinner during/after skiing (right by Town Lift).

The distillery and restaurant (~15 miles away in Wanship) is great if you have more time. This location also does the distillery tours. (no idea if/how this has been impacted by Covid).

Jock 07, Glad to hear you are making it to PC. Look forward to hearing what you think and how it compares to your prior ski destinations. I just left and am heading back again next week. The skiing was great with more snow over the next few days (27-29" per Open Snow). Your timing should be great.

If you are having difficulty with any dinner reservations, call the day of to see if there are cancellations if you are not on multiple wait lists.

Park City and Breckenridge are my 2 favorite ski towns.

I think I actually like Salt Lake more than Denver and the close proximity is a plus.

I love being able to land at SLC and be in Park City in 20 minutes.

The down side is it's perpetually packed on the weekends.

Can I piggyback on this one?

Taking the four year old (and the grandparents) up to park city to hopefully enjoy some snow.

Do y'all have any recommendations specific to smaller kids? Or any good family restaurants? Not gonna be able to do the nicer restaurants and nightlife we typically go for.

Just got back with wife and kids. Really enjoyed the town and entire area. We had brunch at The Eating Establishment which was really good and also pizza at Main Street Pizza which was ok. Downtown was pretty packed when we went and just tried to get where we could. Wife and I had a great dinner at Riverhorse on Main and there was a burger place that had a line all night (can't remember which one).

Will be in Park City second week of January. Looks like we won't be doing much skiing so need recs for good restaurants/bars, other things to do.

Depends what you are in to. No skiing but outdoors or indoor mainly?
For breakfast, the cafe at town lift is good with great views. Terigo good for lunch. Dinner places listed above are all still there.
There is tubing at Woodward, snow shoeing at the Nordic center. You can spend all day walking main street and going in to galleries. Shows at Egyptian all look sold out.

Snow tubing at Woodward or Soldier Hollow.

Solitude is an hour away (45 miles) and catches FAR smaller crowds. If PC is still like 30% open, I'd go look at some of the other hills off Big Cottonwood or Little Cottonwood. The number of people makes a much I bigger impact than most people understand. The 30% that's open at PC is getting run MUCH harder than the 67% that's open at Solitude. That helps the mountain breath and stay better when conditions aren't ideal. You never know though, PC could get 3ft in 2 days. They aren't supposed to be catching much over the next 10 and it's going to be in the 40s today at the base, but you never know. If you're concerned about the conditions and the amount open, there are a lot of great hills in that area that don't get nearly the crowds as PC.

You will need parking reservations now in BCC both on road and at Brighton and Solitude or take ski bus from the city Friday-Sunday. I went up Friday afternoon last week after the 1pm reservation requirement expired and it was a zoo on a Friday once parking opened up, but during week should be good in Cottonwoods as no reservation required although parking is not free if less than 4 people in the car.

Anyone have any updates on Park City? Headed there with some family this weekend & the kids are planning to ski some. Hoping more will be open & they can ski a couple of days. Thanks.

There's a huge thread on the OB where I've gone through and posted the various forecasts and conditions across CO and the Western Rockies.

Edit to add: they have very little snow right now. Almost the lowest in 30 years, but they have 27 inches in the 10 day forecast. So, you should be good, but not great. Far better than the conditions the past 14 days but far below the average.

Alta has the most snow and best base in that region of the Rockies. Solitude isn't too bad but it doesn't get run nearly as much. The issue you'll find at PC Canyons is the amount it's run compared to other hills in the area. It probs catches 2-3x the number of daily visits as Solitude/Alta/Etc because they aren't on the Epic Pass. ALL of the reciprocal UT mountains on the Epic Pass relinquished reciprocity this season so the surrounding hills in Big and Little Cottonwood have far less crowds than PC Canyons which on years like this can be a savior.

In PC now. Monday and Tuesday were kind of rough - they were making as much snow as fast as they could, but it was packed and icy in spots. The kids still had a blast though. Took the day off skiing yesterday to snowmobile and snowshoe, both of which were super fun.

It started snowing at about 8pm last night and really hasn't stopped for more than an hour at a time since. Skiing conditions were much, much better today, though it is actively snowing and quite foggy so the kids were freezing and over it by about 3:00. I think tomorrow and Saturday will be even better. It's not nearly as good as it was this time last year, but it's MUCH better than I was expecting based on reports.

39 expected over 10 so the base conditions should improve dramatically. Still gonna be on the low side of the 30 year average, but you'll be on a base that's 18-24 inches deeper than current. How the trees look will be dependent on what they catch after this storm. So, you could be on powder or packed powder but if it's packed powder it'll be much much better than current.

Thanks for the update! Kids are planning to ski Sunday - Tuesday, so fingers crossed it works out.
