Headed to stay at sanctuary camalback mountain for a long weekend. Going to hike the mountain but any other must do's or must eat restaurants why in Scottsdale? Going for 4 days and first trip to Scottsdale area.

Bump. We're headed to Scottsdale next week. No kids.

Any great food we can't miss?

We were planning on golf and pool but I tweaked my back and I doubt golf is in the cards. Any other ideas?

Where are y'all staying? We're looking at a long weekend in May. Looking at the Scott, but have looked at most in the area. It'll be our first time out that way.

The Boulders. It's up in paradise. Prolly 20 minutes back in to Scottsdale. Hopefully the drive won't be bothersome.

The Henry is a favorite restaurant of mine.

How was your stay at the Boulders? Looking to stay there, as I've only stayed at the Phoenician.

That maestros is awesome. Best out of 4 i have been to.

Chris Blanco restaurants...eot.

Stayed at the Boulders for a work conference. It was nice. Not a golfer so can't speak to it but the setting is beautiful.

If you want a great breakfast Sugar Jam is awesome

I'm sure his restaurants are great, but I've had some amazing meals in Scottsdale and never been to any of his. Let's not end the thread. Fox Group Restaurants is the real deal.

Yes. Fox restaurants are excellent. But my personal favorite of theirs was sauce. Casual pizza joint. Got sold off to different owner now but still a great place to grab lunch with the kids.

Hillstone is also excellent. Had best prime rib of my life there two years ago. Hiro Sushi at 93rd and Shea is top notch. We always go for lunch.

Going back to Blanco restaurants. My past favorite was pizzeria Blanco in downtown Phoenix. There's a cute wine bar next door that's his also. Made the 2-3 hr waits very bearable. But now my favorite is his restaurants called tratto and Bianco (I believe) in the town and country shopping center.

Maestros ocean club at kierland was mentioned. Amazing meat market with tons of hot women. Food used to be exceptional too.

Extremely good and very cheap revolving sushi joint in NE Scottsdale. Used to eat there almost every single night while there on business each week. Teharu Sushi on N Frank Llyod Wright Blvd. And for dessert, they have ice cream mochi that isn't listed anywhere on the menus but you can ask for it. Each plate is between $1.50 and $3 with dessert being the only $3 plates. Every sushi or appetizer item is $1.50 to $2.50. I could pig out for $30 including tip here.

If your in Downtown SD, hit up Pasta Brioni for their Happy Hour. Must sit at the bar for it. Extremely good food and drinks are priced very well. The Bruschetta dish is soooo good. So is the Calamari dish and the meatballs.

We are looking at getting away at the end of this month to Scottsdale.

I always stayed at the Scottsdale Marriott at McDowell Mountains in NW Scottsdale. Its and old Timeshare built on a very nice golf course that they took over. Breakfast there was amazing (You get it free + a guest if you have status since there is no concierge lounge) and the dinner/drinks were pretty good as well. Great view sitting outside on their very large patio overlooking the golf course and mountains.

Very easy access to the main highway to get wherever you need and its extremely quite and secluded with no close hotel next door or bars/restaurants right outside to make noise. I could hear the coyotes out in the desert some nights in my room.

I love Scottsdale. Been 4 times this year already. If the market wasnt so insane and the Californians werent next level making it even crazier expensive, I'd buy a place

bumping this thread as we just booked a trip to Sanctuary Camelback (labor day weekend) in lieu of a bigger trip we're delaying til next year (hopefully) due to Covid. Curious OP's experience and/or any other insight other than previously mentioned must eat/see places. TIA!

Arizona is moving toward mask mandates quickly. Phoenix and Tempe schools require masks. Arizona State and NAU announced mandatory masks today. The local news is saying to keep a picture of your Vax record on your phone for certain restaurants, venues, etc.

University of Arizona announced mask mandate last night. Maricopa County is rattling the saber about defying the governor's order much like some Texas counties.

I'm in the East Valley, and I'm seeing hardly any masks when I go out (maybe 1-2% of folks). My daughter is finishing her 2nd week of school maskless.

Gilbert? I hope that holds up. Once something starts rolling down hill it's hard to stop.

With some of the big districts and the universities going masks mandatory I'm fearful of what's to come.

My son is an incoming college freshman out there and at orientation today they told them masks to enter any building or attend class.
