sad news

Lopes had an excellent career stretch from 1973 to 1979 with the Dodgers

averaged 4.3 WAR per season during those 7 years

with a career best 5.3 WAR in 1975

but despite playing for LAD...he was overshadowed at times by Joe Morgan at 2B with the Reds

in 1978 was successful on 45 of 49 attempts

in 1979 was successful on 44 of 48 attempts

really honed his craft
