hot shoeing is when the shoes are heated in a forge and burned onto the feet prior to nailing. Hot shoeing allows for a better fit because it's easier to shape a shoe hot than cold, and the burn will correct any imperfections in the trim, making sure there aren't any gaps between the shoe and the foot
