This print was originally painted by Lajos Markos in 1980 as he was commissioned by the owner of an art studio to honor what he thought at the time were the greatest Aggie athletes. Lajos Markos came to the US following WWII and worked as a portrait painter in NY, painting celebrities such as John Wayne, Robert F. Kennedy, President Reagan, and Pablo Casals. He moved to Houston in 1960 and sparked an interest in western American art. Examples of that work can be found in Cowboy hall of fame, Ziegler museum, and JP Morgan acquired his works and are housed in their headquarters. His portraits are scarce, he painted the 12 "Texas immortals" which hangs in Texas commerce bank in Houston, "the drive of the Alamo" which hangs in the Texas state capitol in Austin. The original painting hung in Cain hall until it was torn down. I distinctly remember seeing this painting. The history behind these are a great story and would be a great art piece in any Aggie/sports fans house/office/gameroom. These were purchased as a lot directly from the owner of the art studios family. A limited number of these prints were sent to each athlete to be signed as you can see in the picture. An even smaller number limited edition prints were both stamped/signed by the artist as well as each athlete. The three pricing options are below as well as two delivery options. These are great to get framed for the Aggie enthusiast in your family with Christmas coming up. These are printed on heavy duty, high quality egg shell paper. These are not on poster paper. These are high quality designed to be framed.

I have the numbered and signed by artist hanging in my game room.

It was given to me by a childhood friend who received as a gift from the football sportscaster Ron Franklin. I have the original storage tube which has Mr Franklin's name and address clearly present.
