This is 100% the correct answer. Im quite confident a 75% in Klein is a worse option than a 100% Wiggins, who is coaching for his promotion.

Klein and Wiggins do know each other. This is not an either/or situation. As I said before, I expect Wiggins to be heavily involved with Klein's support. If A&M loses it won't be because of this...

I'm not convinced that the performance in Austin wasn't some what impacted by this as well. Elko confirmed on TA Radio yesterday that they had known about this and were prepared for this to happen for over a week.

Have the coordinators for Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Oregon stated that they are really not focused or concerned about preparing for the playoffs like Klein did? Basically saying he will just punch the clock for eight hours a day for perception but focus mainly on his new job the rest of the time? Don't want to hear about his character or integrity anymore. The other guys in the same situation are at least not telling everyone they are not putting in any real effort for their current team.

The playoff committee and CFB in general is run by complete idiots. There are blatantly obvious solutions to all of the current issues.

Did anyone even attempt to consider the results of the current rules on place. A blind man can see the answer is a resounding no.

Elko is football smarter than all of us. He wants to win. He will make sure Klein is focused. But if Klein leaves like you want do you think we are better off with a guy who has never called plays running the offense in the playoffs?

How is he going to make sure? The dude took another job. Elko has no authority over him now. He can only hope Klein doesn't mail it in.

Please show me the exact quote where Klein said this, I must have missed it.

If I know anything about Elko, he won't let Klein screw us over to the point that if he thinks Klein isn't getting it done, he'll fire his a$$ and assign duties elsewhere. Either way, I'm sure he's bringing in someone like Wiggins (who's obviously a candidate for the next OC) to fill in whatever perceived gaps there might be.

What doesn't make sense to me is why they can't have Kleinmann help out since he's retiring?

Agree, I don't like it, but I also think Klein has to be pretty motivated to make something happen in the playoffs for the benefit of his resume. One positive side, I'll be curious to see if Klein might pull a Fran in pulling out all the stops in these playoff games like Fran did for his last game vs tu. That junk Klein threw out against the tsips last week isn't getting us anywhere.

"There will be responsibilities during the day when I'm in College Station prepping for the playoff game"

He has responsibilities during the day. Not, I am 100% focused on doing my best job to win in the playoffs. He will be fulfilling his contractual commitment. Is that what you want from coaches? Did you watch the Texas game? Did the offense look remotely prepared. Did it look like the OC did any film study to try to scheme anything for a defense that was giving up 30+ to comparable offenses over the last month?

This dude checked out three weeks ago when he knew he was leaving for K-State. Look at Klieman press conference after the Utah game and tell me he wasn't already made aware he was being pushed out for Klein. I live in the KC area. It is pretty obvious to everyone here this have been in the works for a while.

Yeah, it's going to be extremely frustrating if we go out first round because of this.

It's simply inconceivable that he can effectively do both gigs shuttling back and forth between College Station and Manhattan.

He would have been better off not even making this statement.

Um, that quote doesn't say what you think it says, and it definitely doesn't say he's checked out. Maybe you are singularly minded and can't multi-task, and can't imagine how anyone else can. Keep clutching those pearls though.

The bottom line is there will be several teams in the playoffs with either their head coach or a coordinator moving on to a new job after the playoffs…the players are the ones that need to stay focused

I'm curious what "100% focus" means to you in practical term? Do you expect him to spend 18 hours a day watching film? All night study sessions with the team?

There is a point of diminishing returns for prep time. He has plenty of time do a few different things. And do you really want to roll out a brand new play caller for the biggest game of the season? Talk about insanity…

Watched too many interviews of Klein return to KSU and how happy he is to be back "home and w his family' and his priorities to KSU (staff, recruiting, developing relationships w current players).

I definitely think to our detriment as he's way more interested and excited about KSU than finishing business w A&M (just like anyone going to a new job w people you know and like). Also the way Elko stated that this has been known for a while about this possibility (wk before tu game), think it's obvious Klein has been distracted and not focused on winning a game against our rival.

Think we need to cut bait as he's more interested in his career next steps than A&M next steps and success (we lose, the faster he gets to hoe or a HC).

Totally agreed. When you take a new job that's a promotion, your always more focused on the future as that is his career and paycheck.

Yep…but many jocks, ex jock coaches, CEOs and the like don't put enough emphasis on how they say what they say. They believe press communications can be handled like a casual conversation, despite advice otherwise. Nope.

I don't like this one bit. I am surprised Klein even suggested this stupid thing. I will be shocked if Mike Elko agrees with it. Give the play calling to one of the offensive assistants !

Everyone knows what working after putting in your two weeks looks like. His priorities are now at his next job and his future relies on him setting himself up for success there.

Our most important stretch in program history and we don't have a complete coaching staff.

When I've put my two week notice in previously, my priorities have always been to ensure there is a smooth and thorough transition to set my teammates up for future success - My teammates who I've worked with side by side for years to achieve certain goals.

To each their own I guess…
Thats because you're not a D1 Head football Coach for the first time taking over the entire program at your Alma mater.

Also, you haven't been around much if you think everyone operates like you claim to.

Goodness gracious the stupidity on this board never ceases to amaze me.

We went from "our wr's can't catch and Marcel cant throw" in the pre season to a top ranked offense and 11-1 record and you morons want to **** on a couple calls that didn't work out here and there? The standard you hold A&M to is 50x the standard of every other team you comment on.
