there is a guaranteed number less than $54 million he will accept based on the time value of money and no need to mitigate.
Wondering if the option 1 reduction in pay only applies to coaching jobs, or could it also apply to any other earned income through employment - such as a TV gig?
If he really thinks he wants to coach again, then he should estimate what those earnings might be through 2031, take half of that and subtract from what LSU owes and demand that as a settlement. I would definitely take at least 1 year off - so probably not start a new coaching gig until 2027. If they trully offered him $30 mil, that sounds like a pretty good deal - considering possible future earnings and time value of money.
If he intends to retire, then demand the $54 mil. Maybe take slightly less if paid out immediately or over a shorter time frame.
