Did yall talk about the Civil War while you were in the Band? Or did your passion for this topic grow post college?

Ha, ha most of our conversations centered around how many push ups I needed to do. If we talked about the Civil War it was along the lines of why I wore my uniform like Grant and my hair like Custer?

My grandfather got me hooked on the Civil War with family tales. Plus I was a child of the Centennial where the Civil War was like when the Ken Burns documentary came out X3.

But who wouldn't get hooked with a full size cap Springfield, Johnny Reb cannon and a felt and vinyl kepi?

Yeah, not much time for Civil War history, or even friendly visits about same. Also not a lot of friendships across classes. We respected each other, but didn't buddy around.

I was also fascinated about it during the Centennial. We got National Geographic, and as I recall, they ran a whole series
