How long do you want to ignore this user?
Looking for some help, and some input from our Ford guru 1ags. As title says I got P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank-2 today and looking around F150 forums there is a TSB 22-2260 for 2018-2020 2.7's.

Has anyone gone through the process with this? Couldnt find anythig on the search feature. I am still under the 80k/8 years emissons warranty as well. Any input would be much greatly appreciated.

Yup. Says covered under emissions. Read your book and make sure the cats are under 8/80

Thanks for the reply, yes it's definitely under the 8/80 it's going to be 7 years on July 19th and barely at 57k miles. Going to call the dealer tomorrow and set an appointment. Again thanks 1ags!

The general concept below has worked for clearing our DTC's (without idling for an hour). Towing a trailer also seemed to help.

The Fix: De-Sulfate Drive Cycle
Ford determined that these codes are frequently triggered by a temporary coating of sulfur on the catalyst rather than permanent hardware failure. The procedure outlined in the TSB involves: [1, 2]
[ol]
  • Finding a safe stretch of road where you can safely reach speeds of roughly 65 mph.
  • Wide Open Throttle (WOT): From a low speed (under 30 mph), accelerating at wide-open throttle up to 65 mph.
  • Cruising: Driving alternately between 50 mph and 65 mph with light accelerations/decelerations for about 5 minutes.
  • Repeating: Performing the WOT and cruise cycle 3 to 4 times.
  • Idling: Parking the vehicle and letting it idle for 1 hour to complete the process
  • [/ol]
