My friends and I cannot figure out what bar I'm trying to remember. I'm certain it's long closed but know yall will nail this.

It was near rice village, but not in it. Kind of a neighborhood around it. Maybe Buffalo Speedway/University-ish? Had an indoor part, but a giant backyard.

I remember doing an ice luge there one time that they like someone bring in for a party, though that info not really helpful here.

Would have been around 2010-2013 timeframe.

Nah, from the description, sounds like it could be Roak or Cle.

Haha that whole era was fun but also very cringey. Roak and The Drake were definitely Whitey McSkullshirt's go-to's.

Wasn't this the place where folks in the new high rise next door were dropping stuff down onto the bar's patio cause they didn't like the noise?

Yes. I had drinks the other week with a friend who a part owner of it at the time. She said that soon after the high-rise opened, the residents more or less declared war on the pre-exsting bar for some reason.

It made about as much sense as the people that would throw fire extinguishers off of the balconies of that hotel on 59 & Kirby on to the comic book shop next door.

Haha, I had never heard of that being a thing. That's where I lost my hotel virginity with my future wife NYE 2009. Would have been a fun post-coitus team building activity.

If it's the one on Kelvin, that bar had it coming, although I think towards the end it was more of a private club or event rental place maybe.

They had a zillion noise complaints and would thump terrible "music" until 3am that could be heard for blocker and their parking lot and the surrounding streets were always trashed the next morning.

The owner had a rich mommy that would handle the fines for the noise complaints according to the locals.

The comic book store filed a lawsuit, and instead of a plain-vanilla petition, they filed a comic book version of the pleading

No, Hans was on Quenby across from the bank. Fun place, had a friend that was a bartender there, we would just give her a $20 for all we could drink.

Sounds like the Pig & Whistle on Sunday nights, AKA Professionals Night. We'd roll in post-shift and hammer the drinks and I don't think I ever paid over $20.

Hans was awesome! Spent a considerable amount of time there when I lived in the Med Center - great selection of European beers.

Probably will ruin the old dive bar feel, but I like Better Luck Tomorrow, so hopefully they don't screw it up.

Yep, they bought it early this year and I haven't been since, but I noticed a sign for Texans game squares (drinks on special based on previous quarter score) and it was for Better Luck, the goon, and one other bar.

I've liked all of Heugel's bars, so I think it'll be classied up some, but not private investor group ruined. I still miss the Boozenasium (not Anvil folks IIRC), but I haven't been since they rebranded to Loose Cannon so maybe I'd like it.

Hope they didn't touch the bathrooms at the Lagoon, but I suspect that was probably their first priority.

The goon bathroom definitely has some character.
