What's the story with these bumper stickers that seem to be everywhere now?

Most of the time, it's an older driver (definitely not a kid anyway). I've seen it on work trucks and all matter of **** boxes.

Do people think these are helpful somehow?

I was just having a conversation about this with someone recently. I feel like they're everywhere now.

They probably work because the vast majority of the population lacks critical thinking skills to realize it's complete bs.

I think it's an old joke and you can order them off the interwebs.

For them to "work" the average driver would have to put their phone down long enough to even see it…

It's been about a month since this thread has been posted.

Having 2 teen drivers and knowing 2 young people who have been killed in head on crashes in the last couple of weeks, I think this stickers are a good idea.

I think a better idea would be to make it dramatically more difficult to get and retain a driver license.

Posted my last comment at 11:22, and since then I've seen a nice car with 2 of them on the bumper.

did we already have this conversation? I can't keep up. Could have been me.

This conversation was also on the GB.

Most of the people I see with these are 40-50 year old Asian drivers.

My theory is that someone convinced them people will give them more space and be less likely to be involved in an accident, when really the sticker should just say "I'm not a good driver so look out".

Could have been on the general board.
I think it's just very commonplace now. Every family I know with young drivers have these stickers or magnets.

right...my point was the most of the ones I see in my area are not young folks.

The logical answer is they think aggressive drivers will give them more latitude...but this is Houston so I kind of doubt it.

A couple possibilities:

Foreigners just learning to drive.
Or
People like me that are teaching their kids to drive and don't bother taking the magnet off and on between driving lessons.

How is a sticker on the back of a car going to help in a head on collision?

I have a 15 year old learning to drive rn. I told him I'm not putting that stupid sticker on my truck. I want other drivers to treat him as they would anyone else. He doesn't need to be "coddled" by other drivers. That's a big part of learning imo. It's okay to get honked at. Speed tf up.

The best thing anyone can do for their kid is to take them to the highway and have them enter and exit at each ramp. Force them to practice getting up to speed, merging into, and out of traffic. Over and over and over.

This is timely! My daughter just got her DL in July. My wife insisted on slapping one of those student driver magnets on her car whenever she rode with my daughter. I told her that people were going to drive like a-holes around her but she insisted that people would be more careful (she really is a sweet person...summer child) After a few weeks I walked in on them beetching about how many a-holes they had encountered lately. I gave them the Tommy Lee Jones eyeballs, turned around and walked off. She never used the magnets again.

Driving on the interstate is the scariest part of teaching a teen driver. Here are some great tips I picked up to prepare them for Houston driving.

1. Don't speed. Teens, especially boys, are prone to speeding. Keep them 5 miles below the speed limit.

2. Be prepared to drive in all lanes. You never know where you are going to be, so practice driving long distances in the same lane. Start off in the far left lane.

3. Be prepared for all conditions. You can't control when it rains, so practice as if its raining. Make sure their hazard lights are on.

I hope point 2 is a joke as well. Drive 5 mph under the speed limit and drive in the far left hand lane.

4. Red lights are for cell phone usage. Teach your teens to keep the phone away while driving and that they should check them at reds.
